Visited the Des Moines Civic Center for the first time (recently located to the Des Moines area) in April 2022 for a concert by one of our favorite bands: Chicago. First of all, the concert blew us away, but that's another issue. We read online reviews that parking in the area for sold out shows can be limited, so we arrived in the area as suggested, and found a private parking lot (couldn't have held more than 20 cars) just south of the Center that was charging $10 for parking! So, we took a spot, walked across the street and about 50 yards to the Center. Once inside, we found the doorway for our section easily, waited for the doors to be opened, and found our seats. Here's another thing. Had our tix on my phone, got to our seats, and found they were occupied. Found the nearest attendant, she came and straightened out the confusion for the other couple. As for our seats. COMFORTABLE. PLENTY of leg room. We chose seats on the aisle, about half way up on the right side, and the sound was AMAZING. Needless to say, we came away very satisfied with our first experience at the Des Moines Civic Center. Hope you enjoy my pics.

This is a wonderful space to experience the arts! I've seen two shows here since January and regardless of the craft everything has been enjoyable. Yes, due to the acts themselves but I believe in the way the auditorium was built as well. The building is handicap-accessible. There are multiple entry points. And the concession stand has alcohol that you can bring in to the performances so long as you purchase the $3 souvenir cup. This place is so well-organized with ushers everywhere that it's impossible to get lost.

I went to My Favorite Murder here but have been a long time fan of the shows they put on here. There have been some great upgrades to the facility and there is not really a bad seat in the house. The bartenders are amazing as well as many of the other staff members that show you to your seat. I am assuming that those who are reviewing this facility know what it is like but definitely recommend this place for a show. It’s also located really close to the bustling Court Avenue.

I absolutely love the Civic Center! I've been to multiple shows here and always have a great experience. The seating is excellent and the sound quality is consistently good. While the restrooms can have lines, they move quickly thanks to plenty of stalls. If you attend multiple shows, I highly recommend buying the souvenir cup—it’s the only cup allowed in the theater, and you can bring it back for future shows. Overall, a fantastic venue!

Who needs to travel to a "big city" venue when we have one right here?! Our Civic Center is convenient, comfortable, classy, and hosts every kind of show with ease. Clear sight lines and great acoustics make every seat worth the price of admission. Our Des Moines Symphony plays second fiddle to no one! Every concert seems flawless and the program schedule has elements and variety to engage listeners of every age.

Top talent, music, & Broadway shows! Love the architecture of the place. Convenient parking with the skyway. Staff are friendly & helpful. Only issue is there is no center aisle. So if you are toward the end everyone is climbing over you, if your in the middle, it takes forever to get out & seats are close together. Small inconvenience for the quality shows they bring in.
