My stay at Staybridge suits was less than satisfactory but it did not have to be, if only some of the staff knew how to treat people like civilized human beings. I checked into Staybridge suits on 11/05 checked out on 11/13. I was there for work and wanted to stay in the heart of downtown Des Moines. The area in which the hotel is located is central to a lot of fun features in Downtown and blocks away from great scenery. Check in was smooth no complications there. I stayed in a king suit. My first few days there I requested full room service three times and called to follow up as to why they never came. The third time I called to complain about not receiving room service as requested per their website I received an apology by Matthew. I was informed I would receive towels and room service. Moments later Matthew arrived up to my room with towels. I waited around for room service, but they never came….. The walls are thin so if you are thinking about staying here, please keep in mind you can here every little noise in the hallway. During my stay breakfast is served Hot every day, that was a bonus and there were snack hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Parking is $15 a day if you are thinking about using the hotel garage My suit was spacious. The mugs and dishes in the cabinets were dirty with lip stick marking and dried coffee stains arounds the glass mugs that were not made by me. Even after all this, I truly did not plan to leave a negative review however after the next incident They left me no choice. Three days before my last night ( 11/11/21) Thursday , I woke up to someone banging on my door ( so hard the door was shaking) as if they were the literal squat team “yelling room service” when I called and ask “why” I was informed it was because it was time for me to check out. On multiple occasions I informed the front desk I was planning to extend my stay, so I am not sure why they planned to confront me in such an unprofessional manner. I enjoy being a Platinum elite IHG reward member and overall, I extended my stay here, but I never plan to revisit this establishment again, the experience has been horrifying to...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to stay at the Staybridge Suites Des Moines Downtown, an IHG Hotel, and overall, it was a positive experience. The hotel offers a range of amenities and friendly service, making it a comfortable choice for travelers.
The rooms at Staybridge Suites Des Moines Downtown were well-appointed and had all the necessary facilities for a comfortable stay. The furnishings were modern and in good condition, creating a pleasant ambiance. However, it's worth noting that there was no exhaust hood in the kitchen area, which could be a drawback for guests planning to do any deep-frying or heavy cooking. It is highly recommended to avoid such cooking methods due to the lack of proper ventilation.
The hotel's fitness center, while adequately equipped, had one downside: the absence of air conditioning. This could make workouts uncomfortable, especially during warmer months. It would be beneficial if the management could address this issue to ensure a more comfortable exercise environment for guests.
In terms of pricing, Staybridge Suites Des Moines Downtown offers reasonable rates for the quality of accommodations and services provided. The value for money is commendable, considering the convenient downtown location and the comfort of the rooms.
One aspect that stood out during my stay was the friendly and attentive service provided by the staff. From check-in to check-out, the hotel staff members were courteous, accommodating, and responsive to any requests or inquiries. Their professionalism and willingness to assist added to the overall positive experience.
In conclusion, Staybridge Suites Des Moines Downtown, an IHG Hotel, offers a pleasant stay experience with well-appointed rooms, reasonable pricing, and friendly service. While improvements such as the addition of an exhaust hood in the kitchen area and air conditioning in the fitness center would enhance the overall experience, the hotel remains a comfortable choice for travelers visiting the downtown area. I would recommend it to individuals seeking a convenient and welcoming accommodation option...
Read moreOn the night we checked in the door handles to the master suite were broken (coming off really and just needed an Allen wrench) - but we called and they were fixed almost instantly! Today we came back from the day out at Grays Lake, the Farmer's Market and family and we find out they haven't cleaned the room!!!
Called the Front Desk and they won't service the rooms unless requested and that it was in the "reference" card (what is that even?) and we should have read it when we checked in. The lady we called also said we have to come down and get towels since they don't bring them up to the customer "because that's just the way we do it here". When asked what the name of the person we were talking to was the lady would not give the name in fact she refused and refused on multiple occasions to give her name - rudely.
Well... we went down to get the towels and another individual, not the manager, evidently there's no manager on site on the weekends, also refused to give out the individual's name but it eventually we learned that she was 'Shanice' (?) - definitely not somebody you want working at your organization and certainly not interacting with your customers...
Haven't even started to tell you about what I can only hope were bananas I found hidden in the back of the cabinet with the toaster and the dishes - see the photos if you dare!!! How thoroughly do they clean that the two bananas had already turned to liquid!?!
Bathroom door didn't lock, it was tough to get cleaning scheduled and you couldn't tell the towels from the bath mats... but the Manager we talked was receptive (I'm sorry I forgot her name) and sympathetic.
Breakfast bar was fantastic and plentiful and went past closing every morning!
However, the abysmal customer experience ruined for me and my family.
Yes - I told the...
