I'm sharing this one off experience just incase others run into this problem. Our phones do not have a data plan, I know rare in this day and age. We called prior to purchasing our tickets to find out if we needed to be connected to wifi to be able to take the tour since the audio tour is done through your phone. The person we spoke to on the phone said no, no wifi connection needed. Our mistake that we did not clarify if there needed to be an internet connection. The check in process was okay. When purchasing your ticket you pick which time slot you'd like to attend. Because of covid only one group at a time was able to tour the house. The grounds tour was suggested to us while we wait. We connected to their guest wifi and went on our tour. Quick to realize the audio tour stops working once you are out of range of the wifi network. I tried explaining our troubles to both staff members who were clueless of how wifi/data networks work. They needed to call their manager to figure it out. So the manager comes down, and I explain our troubles and she said the audio tour wouldn't work if there was no internet connection. Which is why we called ahead of time knowing our situation. I asked her for her solution and what people do if they don't have phones. She replied along the lines of we don't recommend this tour for those. Poor business promotion, unknowlageble staff, unsatisfying solution. She offered us a refund and we left. It was disappointing because we called ahead of time to inquire about the tour and we were mislead (again we did not specify so that is our fault) had we known about the outcome prior we wouldn't have made the hour round trip drive to visit. 2 stars because the grounds were pretty, and at least the outside of the pueblo was...

Fascinating...Thats what I was thinking while visiting a wonderful hidden gem in the California desert-Cabot's Pueblo Museum! This historical landmark located in beautiful Desert Hot Springs,California is a local attraction and historic place that features over 100 years of history as told through the life of Cabot Yerxa. The Pueblo building houses artifacts from his life including his birth in the Dakota Territory, journeys to Alaska, Cuba, WWI, France, and finally his homestead in Desert Hot Springs.Located near Palm Springs, this artistic piece of southwestern history celebrates the creative spirit. The museum preserves Cabot's legacy of cultural respect, education, art, community, & desert habitat. The visitors store features info, artifacts, and books on the history of Cabot, the Southwest and ceramic and pottery by local artists! There is plenty great spots to photograph here and enjoy! Lots of 'grammable spots! You can go in the pueblo and immerse yourself in this historic architecture as well! This is a great spot to make as a destination visit with family, friends, solo and groups or as a nice side trip on the way to Palm Springs or to Joshua Tree National Park or points west! There's a small fee to enter but well worth it! . . . . . #cabots #cabotspueblomuseum #deserthotsprings #california #californiadreamin #seetheusa #godisgood #californiadreaming #museum #family #ilovehistory #desertlife #palmsprings #cabotyerxa #adventure #pueblo #joshuatree #southwestlife #architecture #leica #canon #nikon #olympus #photography #outdoorlife #friends #visitthisplace #getoutthere #hiddengem...

What a neat museum! After being closed for a year due to the pandemic they are now open! HOORAY! I was camping in the area for a week and decided to check this place out as I love museums. For a small fee, you will learn so much about the Pueblo’s history! As you enter each room there is audio to accompany it. The audio explains the room and even points out artifacts in the rooms and stories behind them. I was happy they had a virtual way of going through the inside of the museum as it made me feel free to take my time in each room. They space the tour indoors by 15 minutes in order to maintain social distancing and covid restrictions. I loved I got to be in the pubelo by myself, free to take as much time as I wanted. So many picture opportunities. The outdoor tour is just as amazing! And also free, so you can park and walk around the outside of the pubelo. But the neat stuff is inside! Like the man cave which you HAVE to see! I couldn’t believe man caves existed back then! So make sure you visit the whole museum. The staff was so friendly and so happy to have customers. I would defiantly come back here. Took about an hour to walk around and get the...

Cabot’s Pueblo Museum (est 1941) is an old homestead museum located in Desert Hot Springs. This was built by Cabot Yerxa, was a man who took risks, traveled and a homesteader. This four-story-house has unique architecture and layout with a view of the mountain desert. It has 35 rooms, 150 windows, 65 doors, 1 fireplace and 2 bathrooms. I went for a house self-guided tour which cost $13 bucks include the grounds. An interesting house rich in memories and life history of Cabot. The layout of the house was small and tight with very low ceiling. Similarly, the very narrow stairs to the second floor was good only for one person at a time. Plenty of artifacts inside the house most are left untouched. What I like the most about my visit was the beautiful Courtyards and the massive Waokiye sequoia carved statue. Marta, museum docent was affable and knowledgeable. Souvenir shop was modest. Parking lot is free and easy to park. Overall, I had a good experience. I recommend you visit.

Nice spot with rich history. The ticket attendant/slash limited guide was so friendly and helpful. Tickets are relatively affordable, but the price adds up when your party is large. I think it'd $10 per adult. The tour is a self-guided audio tour that you do with your phone. If you have a large party, maybe a Bluetooth speaker will help so that everyone can hear. If you actually have the patience to listen, it's quite amazing how the home was designed, and the attention to detail that went into it. We had some kids with us do they could care less about the history. They were more interested in pointed and asking. That said, a lot of the things here are original pieces (including some falling-apart clothing), so be mindful and watch touchy kids to make sure they don't sit, touch, or go where they shouldn't.
