Today I had Mexican food 🍱 here is southwest Detroit (Mexican town). I tried the chimichangas and it was delicious! They have $5 tequila drinks 🍹 and the service was impeccable! A must try ! #foodreview #foodie #mexicantowndetroitmi #detroitmichigan #chimichanga #riceandbeans #armandos

When I was a kid, my dad would bring burritos from Armando's home. It's been over 15 years since the last time I had it, so I was curious to see how it is now. Simply put, it fell short of my expectations. The first red flag, the tortilla chips were stale. The second red flag, the server unexpectedly described the cuisine as "not authentic" while we were ordering. Despite this, I still wanted to try a few items to see for myself. I ordered a pork tamale, an al pastor taco, a quesabirria taco, and a burrito with chunky beef and cheese on top, all à la carte. My wife got a taco salad. The al pastor taco was my favorite part of the meal. The marinade had a great flavor profile, and the taco itself offered a generous amount of meat. The burrito was good, but the contents within it were unevenly spread. The quesabirria taco, tamale, and taco salad were all standard at best. The taco's presentation was disappointing, as it was floppy and needed more meat. By no means does Armando's offer a "bad" experience. At the same time, there are so many other Mexican restaurants in Southwest Detroit more deserving of my business.

I really enjoyed myself this time at armondo's. The service was a little slow but other than that, everything was pretty satisfying. Their wet burrito dinner is something that I would reccomend. It is smothered in cheese and it is delicious. It has always been one of my favorites from here. As far as the drinks, my Michelada could have been more flavorful. Their Mexican drinks as a whole are okay but nothing special for what you are paying. There could have had better decor too. I remember before they remodeled, there was a much better Mexican theme. But adding the patio outside a while back was a great idea. I can't wait to eat out there again in the summer. One other thing that stood out to me is that the place is very clean. That is definitely a strong attribute that would bring me back in at some point. Overall, this place is one of the better places to go in Mexicantown. The food is quite good

This place has been around a Loooong time since 70s whn the Cadillac plants were running! I knew someone who ate their Carnitas I think it was Roast Beef with Tomato & Mexican Rice. When I tried thm yrs later hey had the BEST MEXICAN Food hands down anywhere! I tried the other popular places nearby 2 in particular bt no compare! We made it a point to travel for my family's favorite ethnic food! We dine-in bt I hv traveled with carryout on ice. However in the last 10yrs it was sold & our dine-in experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered the same variety of items as normal my sister's fav is the Pork Sandwich. I think its called. There was 8 of us. The pork had the oddest after-taste known to any meat. It did not seem to be a spice or cooking technique it was IN the meat but I couldn't handle it. It had an unnatural taste! To be fair 2 others had 1 felt the same, the other was a Newby & didn't detect it. I haven't been in a good while since that time I was so turned off. We mentioned to staff. Chimichongas a fav bt they were smaller & skimpy on the toppings & cheese (when u have to ask that's a problem). Its always been a lil disappointing they don't use ground beef for Chimichongas as an option (american I suppose) bt Chicken was always great. We loved going down for Cinco de Mayo! I'm surrounded by Mexican rest now bt none compared to original Armando's & fall short. My sister after years went down & she was satisfied so I'm going to 'give them another try' & some new ones I've heard about nearby! After all it was my favorite Mexican restaurant & hope it...

I was looking forward to trying Armando’s, but my experience there was an absolute nightmare, starting with their overly salty birria tacos and ending with some of the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered.

First off, the birria tacos were nearly inedible. They were so salty that we could barely take more than a bite. Hoping to give feedback, we mentioned it to our server, Tiffany C., who didn’t seem to care at all. She took the plates away without a single apology or concern, as though we were being unreasonable. We asked if we could have the item removed from our bill since it was impossible to eat, but Tiffany said she couldn’t authorize it.

When we asked to speak with the manager, George, we thought he might be more understanding. Instead, he was rude and dismissive. He insisted we had to pay for the tacos regardless of the quality, and he refused to make any adjustments. When we tried to explain the issue, he cut us off, claiming they “serve it this way all the time” and that “no one else has complained.” It was clear George had no interest in customer satisfaction, and both he and Tiffany treated us as if we were an inconvenience.

At the end of the meal, we were forced to pay for food we couldn’t even eat and left feeling frustrated and disrespected. Armando’s may look like a decent spot, but between the salty food and appalling service from Tiffany and George, I would advise anyone to steer clear. There are plenty of other places with better food and respectful staff—don’t waste your time...

Me and my coworkers came today March 31, 2023 for lunch the waitress told my coworker they have 3 double shots for $17 and so when the shots came to the table they were single shots, so my coworkers mentioned that this is single not double so the waitress said let me get the owner Sessi and see if she can accommodate us, so my coworkers told the owner Sessi that the waitress told us $17 double shots, and the owner first response was $17 for double shots sounds ridiculous, and Sessi said the waitress told us the wrong special but unfortunately I cannot accommodate your shots if you want them they are $17 and so my coworkers went on to say since it was your waitress mistake why can’t you accommodate that. The owner refuse to accommodate and didn’t care if we left happy or not. I’ve managed a restaurant for 8 years and any time my employees made a mistake with a customer I always accommodate the customer, being in the restaurant industry I am a firm believer I want every customer to walk away happy and that was always a priority to me as a manager. Unfortunately the owner wasn’t willing to accommodate us for the minor error. I will never come back to this restaurant due to the poor customer service we...
