The people who work here talk too loud the whole time and can be heard clearly anywhere in the building. At this moment they are listening to what sounds like a meeting on speaker and I can hear the whole meeting. The meeting said something about remind people to pull up their mask every hour and one of them said out loud how they will not do so and the other workers laughed as if the collectively agreed. There are notes on the computers that instruct us NOT to wipe the computers before using them because they wipe them throughout the day. That is not the case. I’ve been here for several hours on more than one occasion and have not seen them wiped once. They must not believe Covid is an issue. I am a Covid Contact Tracer for the Georgia Department of Health and I feel completely at risk in here. The problem is that I don’t have my own computer and live down the street so I’m stuck. I was going to give 2 stars because the computers work well (for the most part), but they just let me know that they won’t watch my stuff as I step out for a quick phone call because it’s not required, even though they’re just sitting at the desk talking the whole time (too loud I remind you). Irritated about everything going on, I asked if I could stay beside my stuff then for my phone call because they talk and have phones on speaker the whole time, they still asked me to go out. They are extremely inconsiderate. They said that because they all had to hear the meeting, it had to be played out loud in speaker where everyone in the library could hear. I see other reviews and I’m definitely not the only one annoyed by them being so inconsiderate. When I spoke up about my issues they told me to feel free to call state so I will. I’ve dropped my 2 stars...
Read moreI recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at the Doraville Public Library that I feel compelled to share. I arrived at the library with just 20 minutes left before closing, and I needed to use the restroom. To my shock, I was informed that I could not use the facilities, and when I asked for an alternative, the closing manager casually told me to go to the nearest Quick Trip if I "had to use the restroom."
This was not only inconsiderate but also completely unprofessional. Libraries are supposed to be welcoming, community-oriented spaces, and this treatment was anything but that. It's frustrating that a simple request was met with such a dismissive and rude response. The manager's attitude was appalling, and it left me questioning how a public institution could treat people this way.
It’s clear that they prioritize closing procedures over basic human needs, and it’s a real shame. I honestly wish I could give this place zero stars. I will think twice before returning to a library that treats its visitors with such disregard...
Read moreI have been to about 7 Dekalb county libraries semi-frequently and they each have a vibe. The Doraville library’s vibe is “We love kids!” and therefore is the best one. Their current story time leader - Mr. Austin - is incredible. He plays the guitar, does finger plays, recites poetry, reads books soo well and NEVER gets annoyed if a kid gets too close to the book or cries or acts like a kid. I have never heard a single librarian yell or say anything unkind to any child (NOT true of other branches) and when my crawler ended up back behind the librarian desk while I was picking out books with my toddler, the librarian just giggled and directed her back to the book area. Five stars! Bravo! I love...
