Fun movie venue with many special events and films you might not be able to see anywhere else in the area. They do a Rocky Horror Picture showing - with your typical audience participation - usually twice a month on Saturday nights. The Professor and I had a ton of fun recently when they hosted two nights of "The Mads" - a traveling duo who perform Mystery Science Theater 3000-style running commentary during really awful movies. The theater is community-supported and has been undergoing a gradual rehab for several years and they are still working on it. No stadium seating but the balcony seating is usually open. This is a hidden gem in South Hill and Pittsburgh area! This is a small movie theater with just one movie screening hall, so they don't show a lot of movies here. However, their tickets are THE CHEAPEST in the Pittsburgh area! Before 6:00PM movie tickets are $6, and after 6:00PM it's $7. The staff are friendly, they have a concession stand that sells popcorn, snacks and drinks, and their bathrooms are clean. I came here to watch the newest spiderman: no way home movie. The seating was surprisingly comfortable - the chairs do recline and the chair handle does raise so you can be close if you go as a couple. Great place to go and watch a movie. It has a sense of nostalgia and adventure to it. I went to see It Follows, The Void, and Halloween III: Season of the Witch there. I will always have memories of watching those films at The Hollywood Theater in Dormont. The staff is incredibly personable. It feels like you walked into a quaint little movie house of days past.
