Having previous knowledge of the Habitat for Humanity organization, I had a friend who is in her mid seventyâs who just lost her 100 year old mother on Saturday and needs all the furnishing out of her mothers assisted living apartment asap before she is billed for another months rent which she canât afford because she is facing funeral expenses and stuff, I immediately told her to call habitat they will come pick it up and the money they earn will go to a good cause. She jumped on the phone immediately and explained the situation and her mother passing away Saturday etc and was told no they would not accept the donation and pick up the items because her apartment was on second floor ! She told them there is an elevator in the building and they said no we donât do that and hung up before she could say anything else! I thought it was extremely rude, I insisted she call back and explain yes the apartment is on the second floor but it is right next door to an elevator so they would not be using stairs. So she calls back and said I just called and I wasnât sure if you understood me when I said there is an elevator right by my deceased moms apartment and the reply she got was âapparently you didnât understand me we donât pick up donations from second floorsâ and hung up ! I was flabbergasted by the lack of sympathy to this lady , not one time did they say oh no sorry for your loss or I really wish we could help but itâs against our policy ( which having an elevator would be a stupid policy) or anything but down right rudeness and lack of empathy of any sort ! And this is supposed to be an organization that helps people and tell of all the great things they do in the community while begging for money smh. Never again will they get my donations, my business, or me sending people there that are looking to buy furniture or other items. But you can bet I will let everyone know about this if central Delaware habitat comes is in...
Read moreDisorganized business and full of excuses. Setup an appointment for pickup and they missed it while I waited all day. The same person that took the request in the first place said it wasnât in their system and gave me an excuse that sometimes their pickups get lost. Then I rescheduled online instead where they ask you multiple questions about your pickup including uploads of the pictures of the items. Then after I schedule they come 2 days early practically unannounced to get my furniture. Then the pickup guy tells me they canât take some of the furniture because itâs a floral design (btw it wasnât). They leave and I call the store to ask about the sofa they wouldnât take because of the design pattern. I tell them that pictures of the furniture was uploaded to them before they even came out. Then I get more excuses about how they donât check the pictures and more nonsense. Their website doesnât say anything about what furniture designs they do and donât take. Sounds silly for a donation store to be so picky and disorganized. I really didnât enjoy dealing with this place or hearing their excuses. They seem not to understand that their excuses inconvenience people who are giving the. Expensive furniture for free. Why annoy someone giving you a $2000 couch for free because you donât like the design pattern? Place needs better business management. Too many mistakes and excuses...
Read moreI donated a perfectly good sofa and was quoted $129 for the pickup. Two people (1 man & 1 woman) showed up an hour early with no notification. It took them roughly 5 minutes to take it out the door and put it on their truck. An hour later I was billed $140 without any notice. That will be the last time I ever donate anything to HFH. They got a very nice sofa which they will sell and get a good price for and overcharged me for the pickup. Beware of this scam!
Subsequently HFH Central Delaware responded to this review saying they don't charge for pickup. Nice try, I'm attaching a copy of their email to me - It was DEFINITELY HFH Central Delaware.
DON'T BE MISLED BY THEIR RESPONSE TO MY FIRST REVIEW-SCAM
