Woodcraft of Woodridge / Downers Grove — Attraction in Downers Grove

Bought this amazing vac about a week ago. Went for a small addition to my Festool tool box tonight. All the staff there are knowledgeable of the products. Great selection for fair prices. It is almost all top of the line gear! I had the unfortunate experience of meeting he manager tonight, real jumpy rude guy. I frequent this store and if you’re like me you spend some time in there. It’s like a dream shop for woodworkers. THe manager must have asked me ten times if I needed help, I was carrying around a small box of nails he asked me several times if they were mine any time I put them down he picked them up and carried them around. I’m fairly certain he was assuming I was trying to steal something. I’m not saying I’m some kind of huge slender blah blah blah, but I normally spend a couple hundred every time I come here. Once in a while only thirty for a router bit or something small. I will not stop going here because he is he only issue I’ve ever had there. Overall great store, stock lots of great items, staff is awesome, manager, not so awesome.

I agree with Jared’s assessment. If the store manager plan’s to make rude commentary about their customer’s he should at least have the decency to wait until they leave so they do not have to hear it while in the store. I asked them to price match another woodcraft store and produced a reciept. Apparently other store made a pricing mistake and he was unable to match. That is fine, but while i was looking at other items i hear him say that I “was trying to pull a fast one” to others in the store. I produced a store receipt and i am trying to “pull a fast one”????? I calmly explained to him i did not appreciate his commentary and that i would not be shopping in his store ever again. I encourage the reader to avoid this store too, to avoid a similar experience. Happy to shop at Rockler or other any othet competitor’s stores. Manager attempted to make this right by giving me price he earlier said was a mistake. Walked into this establishment spent about 15 minutes walking from aisle to aisle looking for a piece to finish a project and not 1 of the 3 employees (3 men) in here acknowledged our presence or attempted to ask if we needed assistance.

It wouldn’t have been that bad if I hadn’t witnessed them ask someone of a different race if they “needed help with anything” 10 seconds before I entered the same area. Even walking past the register which is literally in the center of the doorway 2 times did either employee ( 2 men standing at one computer together talking) ask us anything!

I’m actually grateful we weren’t able to locate anything of use here, spending anything more outside of my time here would be a price too much to pay. Zero stars, would not recommend, the store is not that large nor too busy to be missed and not...
