Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store — Restaurant in Downers Grove

We have been coming to this Oberweis for over a year and I have never had such bad service and it’s not the staff it’s by the Manager who is eager to go home. We normally order almost the same flavors without tasting or any of that. Tonight my kids were offered by the nice cashier who heard my son talking about the new flavor he saw. So my 2 kids tried 3 samples each and they were about to order for themselves when the manager rudely told the cashier NO MORE SAMPLES. that really put a damp on my evening and I rushed the rest of order. She ( the manager) came to ring me and I asked nicely that what she said wasn’t necessary and not welcoming. She replied whatever and she to close in five minutes I told her I was going to report this and she said go ahead. The customer service went to ZERO STAR all because of the leader in this location. I’m really sad I called the store to ask a question about catering ice cream for a company event 2 times and no one answered.I didn’t leave a message because it’s a last minute event and I wanted to know if they could fulfill it. I drove over and purchased ice cream and ask why they didn’t answer the phone. The kind server didn’t know and had her supervisor walk over and answer my question. I asked the supervisor politely why no one answered and she said the phones were broken and immediately closed the window. I started to talk, she opened the window and I politely said I’m not trying to be rude and she closed the window immediately. I’m so disappointed I worked as an accountant for this company and we never treated customers like that....

Hungry for a burger, I entered this dual-purpose establishment hoping for a quick lunch. The ~$10 burger & shake special was ordered. Oh well.🍴

The Burger came first. It was particularly unimpressive, compared to the photo on the menu board, and especially at that inflated price. Worse yet, it was barely room temperature. 🌡️

The shake didn't arrive until I had asked for it twice. By then the remainder of the sandwich was cold. 🤦‍♂️

Oberweiss was supposed to have a famous reputation for premium dairy products. 🍨

Maybe running a burger business on the side was more than they can handle? 🍔

Besides, if memory serves, Mr O was so busy running for office that the main business was driven to bankruptcy. 💸
