The new location is nice and roomy however there are a few problems. To name some odd issues: There's already leaks in the roofing which, from what remember, was a problem back when this was a UFC gym. You'd think they would fix that by now. There's a odd lacking of Smith Machines like in most commercial gyms and the only single Smith available is an angled one which doesn't bode well for many exercises due to the bar path.
Equipment Selection and Proper Commerical Gym Floor Planning: For some reason their new selection of machines is baffling as if they just kept a bunch of UFC Gym's old equipment and shifted any equipment that wasn't broken from the old gym. There are 3 hamstring machines, 2 leg extensions, and 1 pec deck machine? There doesn't seem to be a professional gym floor plan here just a hodgepodge of random equipment. This causes an issue as certain things bottleneck like the one and only pec deck being used by someone who cares more about texting than actually physically moving while there's rows of barbell benches to be found on the floor. Don't expect a proper floor plan like you'd get at Lifetime, FFC, or Equinox in the city.
Staffing: While professionalism is sometimes lacking at times, for the most part they are a lot better than they were in the old location. I'm not sure if that's because old man Dan Morrissey finally stepped down plus the other two company founders are out (Feldmens are finally gone as investors and the other committed suicide a while back) and new CEO Steven Rayman stepped in to clean things up, but things are looking a lot more professional. They have never come up to my wife and I to sell anything like most corporate gyms do. If anything they say hi once and leave you alone to workout which is much appreciated. I'm sure if I asked for anything they would be helpful as I've seen them help many others in the gym with various things.
Hours: Sadly Xsport doesn't seem to be a 24/7 gym anymore which knocks it back into competition with the other gyms around like Lifetime, LA Fitness, Equinox, and FFC instead of just going head to head with 24 Hr Fitness and Anytime Fitness. This is rather big as if you're a person who workouts late like I do at 1 or 2 am because of work, Xsport is no longer that commercial gym you can count on to be open.
Maintenance: Most gyms have a floating handy man to fix gym equipment or an Operations Manager to report broken equipment to corporate to ask for someone to come fix something. Sadly this doesn't seem to be the case with this particular Xsport as within the first month of opening there are already broken equipment left and right on the floor. To be fair it's old equipment and not the new UFC Gym equipment that Xsport just seems to place a sticker over the Logos while the indents still say UFC Gym. This means that Xsport shifted their already old and poorly maintained gym equipment from the old gym to the new location which is a safety hazard. Unlike gyms such as Lifetime who has a dedicated Operations Manager that goes through and does weekly checks on the equipment, we the people just wait and use the equipment until it breaks on us mid set. I guess that's why they make you sign that long liability waiver when you sign up.
Lastly, the roof of this place has been leaking since it was a UFC Gym. If anything the leaking has gotten much worse recently. Please fix the holes in the roof!
Overall: Mediocre gym that pales in comparison to it's competitors since shortening their hours. Equipment is a blend of new and old machines where using the old ones are at your own risk. Staffing seems friendly enough or at least doesn't bother you like the CIA of suits that bombard you at Lifetime with their annoying trainers who can't stop offering you their business cards. Location is prime as it's only 5 minutes from my house and right off the highway making it super easy to get to and a great location of you're coming from the city or North Suburbs. A bit more attention to maintenance and this gym...
ย ย ย Read moreXsport seems to me like a complete scam. i have the worst experience with them i have ever had with any other company. i honestly think they are worse than Comcast. Thank you Xsport for scamming me out of and taking my hard earned money. Not that anyone elses hard earned money is less important but when your a single mom of 3 and your just trying do the little that you can for yourself to be healthier to take of those kids, that last thing you need is a greedy, for -profit gym taking advantage of you just to get those sales.
So i joined on 10/21/16. I was talked into a personal trainer package deal. Yes i am a little bit at fault for being gullible. i had explained i have never actually worked out in my life and i need to get healthy. i was convinced that i needed to learn the proper form and way to do exercises correctly so i get the benefit and don't hurt myself, which sounds reasonable and truthful. that i will not deny. i did explain that i did not want to start right away because i just want to get in the habit of fitting gym time in my schedule. i am a single mom of 3. i was told i should do the 1 free training consult and go from there.i paid a certain amount upfront which was supposed to be the downpayment for the training sessions and my first month membership. a week later i was charged for my monthly memebership, then 2 weeks after that i was charged 9.95, which im now told is a annual memebership fee. i was never even told that there was a annual fee. and it hadn't even been a month since i joined let alone a year.
The training sessions i bought a package of 24 because i was told it lowered the price by $15 per session. it's supposed to come out in bi-weekly payments. they have been taking them out on the wrong weeks. i talked to the supposed manager 2 weeks ago and was supposed to get a call back. i never did. i call back today to be told the guy's name i had written down was wrong i actually talked to a steve not a mike and steve no longer works there and that is why i did not get a call back. now im waiting on corporate. i told the manager mike today i no longer want to do the personal training. he says that is technically a contract and i can't return them! I was never told any such thing. How are you going to charge me for something i'm not even using? i was never told it was a contract. i was told i was signing to approve the automatic debit from my account for the bi-weekly payments. And i was charged again for today for my monthly membership. which i joined exactly a month ago but have now paid 3 times.

ย ย ย Read morewas here for years, thought the new location would have some upgrades, i was wrong. the price of basic membership kept raising for what? old equipment, no pool, no sauna, and it doesn't seem like anything ever gets clean here. dust bunnys, dirt, and chalk everywhere. wrappers in the same place in locker room for over a week. half the dumbell weights were missing and were never replaced when i was there. i thought i upgraded to have guest privileges, but no, the one step up from basic only offers tanning and an old, dirty massage chair that works only half the time and full of crumbs and hair. they would haggle anyone they thought was trying to sneak in or upsell them. the employees were dismissive and could barely be bothered with you needing any help. so i tried to downgrade, they said i have to pay the sign up fee... again? because you're technically paying for a new membership? it was over $100. almost 200 if i remember correctly since there wasn't a promo going on, i said no thanks I'll just cancel, for $10 which is also ridiculous. where does all this money they're milking from people go? the guy asked why i wanted to cancel and he would offer a lower rate to downgrade instead.. huh. i decided to go to VASA in joliet, it's a further drive but I'm paying the same amount of money for so much more. there's always clean equipment, pool, sauna, steam room, red light therapy, and so many machines! also some free classes and consultations they offer with a new membership, and rewards for refferals. 2 guests for $15 more a month. i recommend VASA, I've been there for a few months now and so sorry i wasted so many years at a gym that didn't try...
