Wonderful park! Doggos of all shapes and sizes, with spots and curls, love this place! Draper Dayland Dog Park is a hidden gem for dog lovers and their furry companions. Nestled within a well-maintained and scenic area, this park offers a perfect blend of nature, space, and community. Whether you have a high-energy pup who loves to sprint or a more laid-back dog that enjoys gentle socializing, Draper Dayland caters to all needs.
One of the park's standout features is its spacious layout. With dedicated areas for both large and small dogs, owners can feel confident that their pets will be safe while they play. The large dog section is expansive, allowing for plenty of running and chasing. Meanwhile, the smaller dog area is equally inviting, giving little pups the freedom to roam without the worry of larger, more energetic dogs overwhelming them. This thoughtful design helps to reduce any potential anxiety, both for dogs and their owners, creating a stress-free environment.
In addition to the excellent space for play, the park is well-equipped with amenities that make visits convenient and enjoyable. Shaded seating areas are strategically placed around the park, providing a comfortable spot for owners to relax while keeping an eye on their pets. This is especially appreciated during warmer months, as it allows you to stay cool while your dog enjoys some outdoor fun.
The park is exceptionally clean, with waste stations conveniently located throughout the grounds. Regular maintenance ensures that the area remains tidy, and the presence of responsible pet owners contributes to the overall cleanliness. It's refreshing to see a community that values both the environment and the well-being of the dogs who frequent the park.
Water fountains are available for both dogs and humans, making it easy to stay hydrated during your visit. These fountains are a thoughtful touch, especially on hot days when dogs need to cool down after a vigorous play session. The park also has plenty of shaded areas for dogs to rest and recuperate when needed, ensuring their safety in warmer weather.
One of the park's most notable qualities is the sense of community. Draper Dayland Dog Park has a loyal following of regulars who are welcoming and friendly. It's easy to strike up conversations with fellow dog owners, exchange tips, and even arrange playdates for your pets. The atmosphere is positive and supportive, which adds to the park's charm.
In terms of safety, the park is well-fenced, with secure gates that help prevent any accidental escapes. This gives owners peace of mind, knowing that their dogs can explore freely without the risk of running off. The park also has clear rules posted to ensure that all visitors respect the space and each other, contributing to the overall safe and enjoyable experience.
While the park can get busy during peak times, there's usually enough space for everyone to spread out, and it rarely feels overcrowded. The mix of wide-open fields and shaded areas provides a good balance of play and relaxation for both dogs and owners. Even during busier periods, the park maintains a peaceful vibe, making it a great spot for regular visits.
Overall, Draper Dayland Dog Park is a wonderful destination for dog owners looking for a safe, fun, and well-maintained space to bring their pets. With its spacious layout, clean facilities, and welcoming community, it's a park that truly understands the needs of both dogs and their owners. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this park is a must-visit for anyone who wants to give their dog a...
Read moreNice dog park, plenty of room for my furry family members to run, stretch their four legs, & explore. Since I travel an astronomical amount of time & my dogs go everywhere with me, we have a great deal of experience with dog parks. With the exception of California & the Dakotas, we have visited dog parks in every state west of the Mississippi River. Thus, we consider ourselves "dog park conesseurs". Here is our positives & negatives as they pertain to this dog park.....
Positives; Plenty of room, along with several objects such as fire hydrants, boulders, etc for my male canine companion to mark & leave his "I was here" scent for future dogs, and a nice smaller stream for dogs to play in. In addition, there's a large grassy fenced area for you to toss a ball or Frisbee to your dog(s).Well thought out & planned double gates, similar to a sallyport, at the entrance, this feature allows you to ensure your doggie doesn't bolt & run into the adjacent street & passing traffic. Finally, there's plenty of access onsite for fresh drinking water when your doggies need to take a break & rehydrate
Negatives; In the primary park area, the majority of the ground cover is a mixture of sandy soil, clay, & smaller sharp stones. These smaller stones are very uncomfortable on a dog's paws & pads. In would be great if this was smaller pea gravel or river rock pebbles or even beauty bark, which would also afford the extra benefit of keeping the dust or soil down in drier periods. Also, there could & should be more benches or facilities for the humans to sit, relax, & visit with the other humans while their furry companions socialize & play. Finally, some trees would be great! On our first visit in early April, it was cloudy & raining. Given the fact that this dog park has primarily western exposure, I can only imagine how hot & sweltering it would be on a typical summer afternoon in July or August. There's a single footbridge going across the aforementioned stream, another footbridge farther down, closer to the drain, would be helpful. Perhaps this could be someone's Eagle Scout project at some point in the future, just a suggestion to a possible solution. Finally, as far as the negatives are concerned, a patch of thick, maintained grass would be a welcome & needed addition. We have all, as "dog people", witnessed & smiled when we see our furry family, without knowing why, suddenly stop what they might be doing, & flop over into their backs and spin and wiggle around.
To summarize & as a well traveled and knowledgeable dog person, I would grade this dog park as a 8 on a scale of 1-10. But regardless of the negatives, the presence & availability of this dog park is very much appreciated & while I am not a resident of these, I am quite sure that the dog people & the dogs themselves whom live in one of the numerous apartment, townhome, & condo complexes in the area are very grateful for the presence of this dog...
Read moreI'm from tooele county where the closest dog park is in south Jordan. Whenever I am visiting Utah county I like to stop by any dog park I can. This one is definitely the best I've been to! Parking is nice. If the lot happened to fill up there is plenty of parking lots surrounding the park. We didn't have any problems with misbehaving dogs. All the owners sat and talked and played fetch with all the dogs. Very respectful owners and dogs. It looked like there was 3 separate areas. One labeled "small dogs", one large gravel area containing the man made creek, and another grassy field area. The gate was open between the gravel area and the grassy filled which let dogs roam between the two. There is also a path around the park which would be great for owners who didn't want to sit on the benches. I read problems with the water being stagnant, smelly, dirty or that there wasn't any water at all. Although there was water in the creek this time it didn't smell too bad. There were a few guys doing work in the creek with a backhoe so maybe they are working on fixing the problem with the water. I would definitely say the water is NOT safe for dogs to drink right now despite the lack of stench. My standard poodle drank some of it before I had time to stop him and he ended up throwing up a few hours later. I would stick with the water fountain drinking area located by the gate. Lots of dogs and owners going in and out of the park. Within probably an hour I probably saw 25 dogs come and go. I will definitely be visiting this park again with high hopes about the water attraction...
