Worst birthday party I've ever thrown. I booked a party here for my son's 5th birthday back in May. First of all the party was expensive for what we received. $500.00 for the amount of work we had to do for the party was ridiculous.
There was no check-in system for the guests-I had to stand at the front of the park for over an hour in 90 degree weather to greet each guest and inform the person at the kiosk who each party goer was. At other places your guests would receive a QR or barcode to scan so they host could continue hosting. When I asked what the process was the manager laughed and said "we don't actually have one this whole party thing is new for us". Party packages being a new option is understandable. Making your guests do the leg work because you still don't have a process in place while charging top dollar is not.
My package came with 2 pizza's and lemonade. We informed the park manager that we wanted them served around 1230. The time came and went and no pizzas. I walked over the to the pizza parlor and they informed me that the pizza's were ready but we needed to grab them ourselves. I had to rally some of my party goers to help carry pizza, napkins, utensils, pictures of lemonade cups etc. I was so embarrassed and upset....it took us six trips just to get the kids fed. Remember the is a 500.00 party and we could not even get someone to drop the pizza's and lemonade off at the table.
The park would not allow us to bring our own cake. Santa's Village does not have cakes....yes you're reading correctly they don't offer cake and you can't bring one. So I was forced to buy cup cakes. And you guessed it! We had to carry all of the cup cakes to the table. There was no carrying case bugs were swarming on cupcakes during the trips to the table. 5 trips later we're finally about to sing the HBD song when I look down at the cup cakes and they look absolutely disgusting. They are all different shapes, some are huge some are small, they're lopsided and look like an unsupervised kid baked them. The frosting is super lumpy- instead of using a piping bag to apply frosting they used a plastic butter knife (I learned this on the 5th trip back because they left 2 cupcakes out of the order and the two teens behind the counter pulled out a huge bucket of frosting and two plastic knives and got to work). The frosting was littered with crumbs from the knives and bugs from the walk back. The kids tasted them and were grossed out. They were hard, dry and the cake itself had an odd flavor to it. We gathered them all and tossed them in the trash.
I was so upset and mortified I spent over an hour apologizing to the parents individually of the kids who attended the party with their children. These parents had to pay full price just to chaperone (they did not ride any rides) and immediately get to work upon arriving. Other family members like grand parents who attended the party with no children and did not ride any rides had to pay full price as well. This park is a fun place for kids in the summer but they have no business throwing parties. They need to stop offering the "party" option until they are able to streamline the process. Seems like someone decided it'd be a great way for the park to make money but did not hire any additional staff to work these parties nor did they take the time to make the party experience quality.
The park made at least $1,500 from that very unenjoyable experience.
Beware!! Please don't throw parties here. For $1,500.00 you could have a really nice enjoyable party elsewhere and create some really...
Read moreA great park for kids under 10 years old. A little more disappointing for older kids. Seeing all the animals are great. I've updated my post. SV listened to people's reveiw about their animals. My only concern now is the hooves on one of the bovine, it's a little flat standing and growing long. May need a trim. SV does care about their animals and worked harder to keep their animals healthy. I think the park should hire workers to watch the public with the loose animals. It's clear that some people need to be watched around animals. In 2018 The workers seem to be doing a great job running the rides. A "fight" broke out between adults. The worker handled it perfectly. We even told him so. Great job young man. 2019 - the bumper car man is doing a great job. A young girl started crying. He stopped the ride to help the girl. Mom and child left the ride, and it started up again. Safety first! Great job!! The games (even if they are fun) are over priced for us and the quality of toy isn't worth it for us. We did play $40 worth on a different year, we had fun playing. So pick and choose what you want to do. Buy the game tickets online to save money. The hills in the park make it hard for the handicap to get around. Bathrooms are limited. 2019 They did take away all their extra porta potties. If you bring bottles to refill with water, we only found two fountains. Their sodas are not the best (to us). If you do want soda, buy their refill cup online.
2019 We miss their water park! What is wrong with us? Sadly, we came late and the kids would rather ride the rides. We saw people enjoying and it sure looked awesome.
Read moreHello I visited Santa’s village yesterday in Dundee IL It was my kids first trip there I have a 8 and 9 year old I am a single Mom and we don’t have a lot of money Do his day long adventure to your park was really important and I me for us to enjoy and make memories For the most part my kids had a wonderful amazing time Later in the day there were some groups I believe were summer camp kids. Some wore green shirts some had red or white shirts But for certain they did not have enough chaperones to stay with all their kids So as the groups of kids went off on their own they overwhelmed the lines and pushed other kids out of the way who were standing in line Including my own kids who were trampled on and pushed out of the way a few times The teenagers or young adults who were managing the rides, attempted with their best efforts to control the summer camp groups that were overwhelming the rides and pushing other kids out of the way however they were being yelled at and disrespected, and I feel like they were almost intimidated to tell those kids to stop it, and they were actually allowed to get on the ride after pushing their way to the front. At the water park there was also a lot of pushing and a couple angry summer camp kids were letting their aggressions out on some of the Caucasian kids that were trying to go down the slide, including an incident where a boy slammed my son‘s head against something on the top of the slide, my son came down, crying in tears. He was dizzy and disorientated, and he had a huge lump on his head. We looked around to try to find the boy so I could try to find the chaperone he was with, but we were unable to locate him, so we ended up leading the waterpark and going back to the amusement park and that’s where we were dealing with a lot of the pushing and shoving in the lines on the rides. It was really, really disheartening For a day that was supposed to be filled with fun and great memories At the end of the day my kids were in fear of standing in line for the rides they wanted to ride. I was hoping that we could make a tradition of coming to Santa’s village each summer, but after our experience yesterday, I don’t even know if I should bring my kids back...
