Route One Trailers — Local services in Dundee Township

I would like to inform you about the problem I've encountered dealing with Ruben with Tarp System located at 200A Christina Dr, East Dundee, IL 60118. I have a 53 Flatbed trailer and I needed to cover this trailer with conestoga tarp system so I've called Ruben to help me with my project.

On December 16th 2020 we have agreed on terms (project must be complete on March 22 2021) and price (17200$) and I provided the deposit in the amount of 2000$. Ruben told me he would start working on my trailer on March 17th 2021 so I brought my trailer to his shop on agreed date.

March 23rd - I've called Ruben to get an update on the trailer system and he informed me that one panel is missing so he ordered it from his supplier Aero Industries, Inc located at 4243 W Bradbury Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46241. Next day Ruben told me the missing part will be arriving at his shop on March 26 - March 29.

March 30 - Ruben received the panel and promised to finish the tarp system on my trailer shortly. Same day at 4.16pm Ruben informed me the project is complete so I can pick up my trailer. At 5.10pm I arrived to Tarp System to inspect the trailer. After thorough inspection I realized the quality of the complete job was poor - one of the bows was crooked and there were a lot of gaps between the trailer and tarp system (see attached pictures). When I addressed my concerns to Ruben he disagreed with me saying the project was complete according to high quality industry standards so I had to accept it 'as is' and pay the bill. As a customer I felt mistreated and totally offended by Rubens miscommunication and overall quality of the finished project.

April 2nd - Instead of solving the problem and correct his mistakes, Ruben informed me that one of the panels is 1/4 shorter (which is not a big issue as he mentioned) and advised me to bring the trailer myself to Aero Industries, Inc for inspection which makes no sense as Ruben installed the conestoga system on my trailer. After that he stopped answering my phone calls.

April 7 - Ruben has not returned my phone calls since april 2nd so I've decided to drive to Tarp System to meet him personally to be able to get an update on what's happening. Ruben informed he had sent the trailer to Aero Industries, Inc located at 4243 W Bradbury Ave, Indianapolis, IN 4624 for inspection.

April 8 - I got back to Ruben's shop to check on the trailer. No mistakes mentioned above were corrected. Moreover the conestoga was leaking water inside (it was raining that day). In spite of that Ruben kept assuring me there is nothing wrong with my conestoga trailer and the job was done properly. Also Ruben told me to pay for the project complete otherwise I can hire a lawyer although the lawyer won't help me as he and Aero Industries have best lawyers. I felt extremely abused as a customer. I refused to accept my trailer in such a poor condition.

April 9 - I had a long conversation with Aero Industries representative Neil Smith informing him about the issues and treatment I got from Ruben with Tarp System. Neil advised me the mistakes mentioned above could be easily fixed.

April 15th a Aero representative come to E Dundee from Indianapolis, inspected the trailer, the representative Rob made Ruben deliver the trailer to Indianapolis facility to fix all the issues, they got the trailer fixed on April 27th.

Ruben told me to pay the full remaining balance and he would not work with me on the amount of the invoice, obviously he doesn't care about anything, and the fact that i lost months with this guys they would not care.
