This place has the best selection of mature tropical fruit trees in the whole of Los Angeles County. They have a wide selection of sizes, varieties, and number of trees. They have 10-50 pots at each size for each plant. That's a lot to choose from.
They'll help you find the area for particular plants, but you ultimately decide which one to take and they'll help you get it, wrap it and load it. They take care of their trees very well, you won't have to worry too much about your pick.
There are lots of mature trees and very well rooted for the pot they're in. It's not like other nurseries that put plants in pots bigger than their rootball to get a bigger pot for higher pricing. You can lift most these pots from their trunk! Definite proof of a mature root system, good maintenance and care.
The pricing was reasonable, but I don't have a truck so the good sized trees are difficult for me to transport. This is a great place to get your trees if you're willing to pay for a little extra maturity. $50-$100 dollars extra for a larger tree can save you one to three years of growth.
I do have to second the other comments about the older gentleman's propensity for anger. It's not yelling or being overtly mad, but you can tell when he feels agitated and he'll walk off. I wouldn't take it too personally though.
The nursery business is tough and it's hard to stay afloat in this economy, especially in a somewhat niche area like fruit trees. It's not like they can expect repeat customers coming back every year... that's just not how fruit trees work.
I did buy a small tree at a discount that fits my budget and car to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you are Hispanic donāt go here. located in a community where mostly Hispanics live i would think they are used to helping Hispanics but apparently thatās not the case. I walked around for 5min without anybody asking if I needed help when I asked for help to an Asian man that was there, he said he couldnāt help me cus he didnāt know what my plans were for my garden. I didnāt think much of it until I found a Hispanic worker and asked him exactly the same thing I asked the Asian man and he said he can suggest a few trees for me. As we walked to look at the tree the Asian man yelled at him to assist other customers that of courses were Asian and said to him forget about me and help the Asian customers only. He was so rude and I nicely said to the Hispanic worker that it was okay and i wouldnāt be putting him in an awkward situation with the person who seems to be the owner or boss. I would never give my business to people who treat another human in such way and I suggest you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have purchased various plants and trees here for years. Just bought a dwarf avacado tree, and several other plants. I had a great experience and was helped by owner as well as another employee. All my questions were answered and was able to make informed decisions about my choices. The staff is multilingual and educated about the items they sell. Prices are marked on most containers and larger containers have tags with info on them as well.
I was helped by one of the employees who was very talkative and knowledgeable, the owner is a man of few words and won't waste your time. Maybe this is where some of the negative reviews stem from, maybe cultural differences. I try not to patronize businesses that don't appreciate customers either, just saying I disagree with some of the reviews this time. Time to plant my avacado tree because the guac won't...
