Kickingbird Golf — Attraction in Edmond

20+ HANDICAP STAY AWAY !! Me and my buddys work all week and look forward to the weekend where we can relax and enjoy a nice round of golf but what a NIGHTMARE . We were a little behind pace on the front 9 and were not pros by any means but apparently the guys behind us were . The Marshall talked to us about speeding up . No worries we will speed up . At the turn we stopped at the clubhouse to get some food, drinks and use restroom and let the guys behind us pass us . We started hole 10 and behind us was a 6 some . After we started the back 9 the 6 some was no where near us and yet we had the Marshall talk to us AGAIN about being behind pace and that he was worried about the tourney that was going on and how he was worried about how they WOULD CATCHUP TO US WHEN THEY WERE ON HOLE 3 and WE WERE ON 14 ... We told the Marshall we would speed up again even though it didn’t seem like an issue at all for the people behind us or in front of us . At this point some of my friends are getting discouraged to even play because how can anyone enjoy a round of golf being constantly hassled . We get to hole 16 and the Marshall comes around AGAIN !!!! I get the cart tells us we’re behind pace but can the cart also know we stopped to eat , use the bathroom and get some drinks ???? God forbid we like to enjoy our round of golf and have the need to eat , drink and play . We told the Marshall how insulting and disrespectful it is that he can’t be aware of how the 6 some behind us is way behind us and we’re playing way faster due to him and then we brought up how if there’s a tourney WHY HAVE OPENINGS TO GOLF ??? Just cancel all the other players and only do the tourney if you’re so worried about it and he tells us “the tourney isn’t an issue “ !?!? SO WHY BRING IT UP BEFORE AS AN ISSUE ??? I have played here before and have had a great time . This was my last time playing here , I’ve never had any issue at any other Oklahoma golf course in my life...

First time playing this course since before the remodel and it will be the last time. In over 25 years of playing golf with my father we have never been treated the way we were here. Our group got hassled by the marshall for most of the round despite our pace of play being fine and within USGA standards. The 2 other guys we got paired with had played here before and said this isn’t unusual. We weren’t even able to grab a drink at the turn and were barely allowed to go to the bathroom as we were pressured to tee off on #10 right away.

Aside from that, it’s not that nice of a course for what you pay. Sadly, the new restaurant and clubhouse weren’t enough to distract from how poorly maintained several of the greens were. Additionally, I imagine pace of play would improve if the carts didn’t take ten seconds to fully accelerate after pushing the pedal.

Thankfully there are plenty of better places to golf in OK that will also treat you with respect and make you feel welcome. I just wish I would have picked a better birthday gift for my dad. Truly...

My family frequents this course for several reasons.

The staff are so friendly. Each teaching pro is approachable, knowledgeable & willing to contribute to one’s game. The course is in GREAT SHAPE! The grill offers a good variety. Food Quality is good as well. One of the pros offers Track Man, a tool designed to give greater understanding of the flight of the ball.. Fitting sessions with club manufacturers are great! Brian & Jeff worked with my son in a recent Titleist fitting. What a great experience!

To sum it up, Brian & his staff are progressive, friendly & willing to help raise the level of your game. Most times you are greeted with a smile & the realization you are recognized & appreciated. All other amenities being equal...
