As far as farmers markets in the area go, this one was disappointing. The location is poorly chosen and the small number of vendors and visitors present reflect that; Union Plaza has been a ghost town for a while. A better location would be further inside downtown, where people can shop not just at vendors but at surrounding businesses and bars/restaurants as well, thus enabling an increased collaborative effort within the local economy as well as a much more immersive experience for the visitor. There is plenty of parking and great access to The Market, and a good variety of different vendors. All the people were friendly, and my daughter really enjoyed the samples the vendors were happy to provide. My favorite both made fresh and delicious Kombucha locally on the east side and will most certainly generate plenty of business from my family. There were lots of local crafts from soap venders, t-shirt venders, tacos, kombucha, local honey, home made dog food and accessories, and so much more. Today if you rode the classic Street car you got a free plant in honor of Earth Day! There were even free activities inside the various museums throughout the day for visitors of all ages.
