Tacotote! — Restaurant in El Paso

I would NOT recommend going to this location.. service was horrible. They need to start looking for a new team or better their employees especially the managers there. So basically, my family and I came in, we decided that my parents and my bf and I would order our food separately. Everything was going fine and as we were waiting for our food, we realized it was already about to hit an hour that our food has still yet to come out. We notice the other tables around us that were there before us were also looking around and even went up to the employees asking about their food bc it was taking them a while for everyone to get their food. So ofc my mother goes up to the employees wondering why her food is taking long and they basically tell her that they'll make sure to get her food out asap. So 5 minutes after i have my boyfriend walk up there as well to make sure they also got our food coming out bc it's already about to hit an hour and there are other tables also waiting for their food. At this point, we are watching other the other ppl who’ve complained receive their food and also those who have came in way after us get their food, have finished eating and were already starting to leave. So ofc we are getting hangry at this point. Finally, they start walking up with food, but it’s just mine and my bfs food, mind you we complained minutes AFTER my mother. My mother and father only ordered the chicken tacos so you would think they wouldn’t take long on the food. As my bf and I are finishing up our food, my mother and father have yet to receive their food and my mother walks up to the employees showing the receipt that shows the time of when the order was taken, basically telling them it’s been over an hour and that they went up to them to complain that their food hasn’t been taken out and the manager basically just said sorry we lost your order. And the manager goes and tells my mother she can either wait longer for her food to come out or just get a refund and no food. Absolutely no care for the fact that my mother had been waiting over an hour for food! Not only just that multiple tables were also having to wait a long time and watch how others get their food way...

For the record, this is one of my favorite restaurant chains. I absolutely loved this chain... back in 2015.

Off the bat, the main problem with this particular restaurant is how long it takes to make the food. If you are short on time, the drive-thru is your best bet. If you go inside during any other time except lunch, expect 20 to 30 minutes for your food to be made and ready to go. During lunch, it's 10 to 15.

The menu is much different than it was back when I frequented the restaurant in 2015. It was all that you wanted from a taqueria that you'd find on the outskirts of a Mexican city, but with the cleanliness and speed of an American fast-food restaurant. You used to be able to get tripa tacos, now it's steak, chicken, shrimp, and mushroom (don't turn your nose up at it, it's actually very good). It's all still good, but there's not much variety as there used to be.

Atmosphere? This is a bit tricky to rate and critique. It's an American fast-food restaurant that emulates a Mexican taqueria - which 99% of them aren't exactly Michelin Star restaurants. Given other restaurants such Taco Bell, Del Taco, and Taco John's, I'd say that this restaurant's style and decor holds up... Until you start paying attention to the people behind the counter. The people on the grill are hard at work 90% of the time, with the 10% being when they have the time to catch their breath. During that rest, you can tell that the pay that they're receiving ain't exactly worth getting worked to the bone for. I bring that up, because it's in plain view for the customer to see.

Price-wise, if you're on a budget, perhaps save the trip until you get a big paycheck. My steak quesadilla, 2 steak tacos, and 1 mushroom taco with a medium drink ran me about $35

It was our family's first time dining here and it will not be our last. First of all, there are ample parking space. The interior of the restaurant is clean and spacious with modern decor and the atmosphere is quite friendly and hospitable. The employees were very polite and accommodating and the lady behind the counter was patient and understanding considering it was our first time ordering from there. I also witnessed some irate customers and I observed how their situation was handled professionally.

They offered a military discount, which is always a plus in our book! The food was cooked fresh which is why it took a little while longer to receive our order, but the wait time wasn't that ridiculously long. Once our order was done, a sweet older lady who worked there delivered our to-go order to our table and offered containers and a bag for our sides (they have a full bar of side dishes-from salsa to cucumbers- you name it). When we arrived back home, we were excited to try our sirloin meal and sirloin quesadilla. One bite, and we were convinced that Taco Tote would be one of our favorite spots to go to as a family. Price point is decent and the quality of the food is just right. We will be dining...
