This place needs a lot of help. Upon entering, we were greeted kindly by the hostess. She asked if we'd like a table, and we said that we were ok sitting at the bar. She said she could sit us at the bar upstairs in about 5 minutes. I thought that was odd because sitting at the bar is usually an open seat concept. We said ok and sat down in the waiting area to be called. The next thing I witnessed should have sent me out the door. The table of 6 to 8 patrons sitting to my left had their food being delivered. The waitresses were using the dirty dish cart to deliver the multiple plates of food to this table. Following this cart was another cart with all the sides. The sides cart had dirty dish water sloshing around on the second tier of the cart, while the sides were on the top tier. I am not sure if it's laziness on the waitstaff part or really poor management. I'm going with the latter. It was really tacky for a restaurant that looks really legit on the outside. We then sat at the upsatirs bar; again, being sat at the bar with menus and sides plates and dinner roles was odd. They treated the bar like it was the dining room. The bar tender was great. She was friendly, smiled, and worked hard. We ordered the queso fondido and a mushroom appetizer. The queso has the consistency of taffy. It was awful. It was served with tortillas instead of chips. You couldn't dip even if you wanted to. The mushrooms were very generic and plane. They would would be good topping for a steak, but to serve as a stand-alone app was insulting. The drink was good but overpriced and lacked alcohol. The lighting and atmosphere upstairs were uncomfortable. The lights are way too bright, and they have the ambiance of a basement bar. They should really open it up. We will never go back. It's too bad because it seems to have a lot of potential, just very poorly managed.

First, the hostess wanted to seat us between 2 tables that were close together when there was a lot more room available elsewhere, we told her we would sit somewhere else. Thank you. Our waiter, angel was wonderful. Unfortunately, the food wasn't. We had stopped eating here before. It was torn down and rebuilt as a multi business area, and we will not be back. My tiny portion of ribeye fajitas was tough and pretty greasy. It was also $23.99. The cute little cast iron skillet it was in wasn't even as big as my hand. The grilled onions that were hiding under it were very greasy. The tortillas were horribly greasy. I brought the meat home for the dogs. My aunt got the 8 piece beer battered shrimp with a baked potato. The shrimp was very greasy. She had to peel the breading off, but she said the shrimp itself did have a good flavor. At least she got a side, I got nothing except a tiny piece of avocado. Some salsa ,cilantro and chopped onions. Oh yes and the greasy tortillas. Of course, they have the tasteless coleslaw and the interesting beans that are part of the service, not part of the meal or bill, I should say, but I have my doubts about that. Honestly, the only nice thing I have to say about what turned out to be the worst birthday meal I've ever had was our waiter Angel was wonderful, and I felt so bad for him.

5 Stars – A True Texas Treasure I don’t usually leave reviews, but Great American Steakhouse earned this one with flying steaks. First off, shoutout to Matthew, the ultimate server—dude was on point the entire time. Friendly, quick, knew the menu like it was his own mixtape. Made us feel like VIPs from start to finish. Now, let’s talk about something I never review... the restroom. I walked in and thought I’d stepped into a high-end spa. That men’s room? Spotless. Clean as hell. And the scent? Whatever cologne they’re pumping in there needs to be bottled and sold—it's that damn good. And the views outside? Straight up Texas postcard vibes. Big sky, majestic mountains, and steakhouse charm all wrapped into one. From the service to the steak to the scenic view and even the restroom (yeah, I said it), this place is a full-on five-star experience. Don’t walk—sprint to this steakhouse.

Where to start? Well, already you know it's not going to be good. Great American Steakhouse not so great, I'd say more like mediocre! We waited about 30 minutes for a table. Server came around to take drink orders and we didn't see her for about 15-20 minutes after that. She came by and we told her we were ready to order and she told us to wait and that she would be back. When she came back and we started to place our orders some of us wanted to change our order and that annoyed her. She argued with our friend who ordered the pulled pork tacos that were on the $9.99 and she said that you didn't make them. Our friend showed the item to her from the menu and she still said that they didn't serve them. She went to check her computer ,the kitchen, and came back flustered and said that they would make them.

SERVICE WAS SLOW!!! I completely understand that on relatively busy days you're going to have to wait a bit but c'mon 35-40 minute wait on a Monday and they still mange to screw up on two orders.

My wife ordered a WELL DONE burger which any arm chair griller can whip up with ease came out pink in the middle. Well done basically means you cook it til there's NO pink. My wife gets grossed out if the burger is not cooked correctly and she won't eat it. We sent it back and ended up taking it home because at that point there was no reason for her to eat it since it was getting late.

I ordered a medium rare green chile burger and it was rare. Did I mention "green chile" because the burger didn't really have any. A few specks here and there but not at all what I expected. Whataburgers green chile double has a ton of green chile on it. Let me repeat that and let it sink in...WHATABURGER! Maybe they were short in the kitchen and didn't think I would notice. Now the difference between the $9.99 steak burger and the $13.99 green Chile burger is $4.00. That's quite a racquet they have going on if I'm being upcharged that much for an item that is not really on the burger. The steak fries were warm at best and I'd say not fully cooked. I would've sent the plate back but at that point I was really hungry.

For a place to advertise on their building #1 burger in El Paso definitely fell way short of that accolade. I can go down the street and get a better burger at half the cost for two.

I remember the old Great American that was in the same location, they definitely knew how to make a green chile burger and cook steak fries correctly. 100% way better than today's version. If it ain't broke don't fix!

When I saw that they were reopening the restaurant again I was excited to see it back and anxious to return. Needless to say we won't be going back. With slow service, annoyed wait staff, and forgettable food there is no...

If I could, rate 0 stars. I made this a quick exercise opportunity and walked from work on my lunch break to order carry out : Grilled Chicken Great American Salad, Strawberries on the side and Brisket Mash paid $30 and gave a $10 tip. I heard the hostess say something about a wait under her breath. When I asked how long. She said 10 to 16 minutes tops. I said no worries I’m asking so I can go for a walk.. she said ok. I took a 20 minute walk only to return and have to sit well… I waited almost total of 40 minutes to get my order.

When I received my order, the Mash were cold there was a single cutlery set in the bag, the Chicken Ice Cold and looked burnt and dry, there were no lids to cover the Salad Dressing, because I don’t want dressing spilling everywhere should I decide to save the salad for later. Upon requesting napkins the hostess said they don’t have napkins… I was so livid that I left.. I tried to use my walk to work to reason with the situation but you mean to tell me I pay $30 for a handful of lettuce, 2 strawberries, a sprinkle of feta, and another dash of chicken and I can’t get napkins.? I can’t wrap my head around it. I start thinking are the employees being well compensated to justify high costs and low amenities?… I think not?

I called to speak to a manager who said nothing was wrong with my order or my experience. I reminded her that my order was $30 and I gave a $10 for a host to bring my order to me and I leave, you don’t have napkins, and no one covered my salad dressing cups, and you’re telling me what is or isn’t wrong with my order. I asked about a refund she said I needed my card, receipt, and to return the food. I told her I no longer wished to speak to her and asked for a corporate number or contact. She said that I can look at my receipt. After advising her of my experience and questioning her work ethic or if she was being too lazy to provide me with a contact to a higher up.. she tried to give me a line about her inability to give out personal phone numbers and gave me a questionable email.

At this point I’m finally back to my office. I’m raging hungry I managed to think I’m overrated and hungry so just eat and call to apologize.. NOPE. I ate the mashed potatoes which were cold and bland.. I get ready to taste a piece of Chicken on the salad to find it, dry, salty, burnt, tough, and chewy like I’d imagine dog food.

Never again. I was looking for a new lunch spot to frequent and that could’ve been an easy $40 a day for them to give me a Salad with or without potatoes. I’m getting a refund and won’t...
