The playground used to be a Utopia of kid-friendly fun. As of today, I have had it with the decline and neglect of Miwok park. In the past, we have noticed it never seems to get sprayed or cleaned, and is overrun with spiderwebs and squirrel colonies (who can be food aggressive if you have snacks out). We also have seen homeless adults making themselves comfortable on the picnic areas outside the play structure during day. Not ideal in a children’s park, but the play structures were still safe and fun to play on.
Until today, because my toddler found a homeless woman passed out on the top isle of the playground structure. It was 10am in the morning. He thought she was dead. Other parents tried to shoo her away, and she refused. One of the parents had to call the police. Now I know why I never see large groups of kids playing at Miwok anymore. I am saddened to have to make this review. I hope the parks department or appropriate departments see this, and take action to update and save this once beautiful park. Please do not bring your children here until this park gets the attention it needs from appropriate departments. There are so many safer, newer, play areas to visit...
Read moreThis park is awesome! It is more complex and detailed than any other park in the Elk Grove/Laguna area! It feels like a castle and a pirate ship combined! Even when there are 20 children playing tag throughout the park, it still feels roomy. You most likely will never feel crowded out, but there are plenty of hidey holes there to play hide and seek or freeze tag in! Plenty for anyone of any age to do. Even after 26 years of going to the park, I still discover new ways to play at the park every time I go. GREAT place to hold parties as it is LARGE! Usually the more children, the more fun everyone has! Which cannot be said of all parks! One thing to prepare for: the park has a lot of wood chips and most of the playground is made out of wood. If your child is splinter prone, bring tweezers! Also, bring lots of water as your children will be sure to play off SO MUCH energy! Keep them hydrated! There is a restroom nearby, as well as large grassy areas for picnics, and some picnic tables. There used to be two water fountains. I am not sure if they are there anymore. Nearby there is also a soccer field and a tennis court. Enjoy this treasure of a park!!! Keep the good...
Read moreAwesome park, great shade, playground & bathrooms . . . However each time we've taken the kids, there's always this man with a Peter Pan syndrome, playing at the park. Approximately mid-40's possibly Asian/White mix. Appears innocent enough. He runs throughout the entire playground jumping off of the slides/playground equipment, playing games of tag and hide-and-seek with preteens and teens. Kind of irritated when he nearly knocked down our toddler as he ran through the kiddie play area chasing a kid during a game of tag. The first couple of times I assumed he was a kid until I noticed the salt and pepper in his hair one day as he ran by nearly bumping into me and my wife. Curious if he's just a weird parent or a creepy old guy who befriends kids...
