I cancelled my subscription after they raised my digital monthly rate without notification. I discovered the price increase when my credit card was debited the new monthly rate. On January 7th I called to cancel my subscription, which they did immediately. However 14 days later, the refund still hadn't been posted. I called on the 21st, and was told it takes a month to process a refund. When pressed the woman I spoke with said digital refunds are process every 10 days, and she didn't know why it wasn't done and she would submit it again. The Chronicle's customer service department needs to be more customer friendly, especially since newspaper readership is declining. She never asked why I was cancelling or was there anything they could do. I still get their daily email. There needs to be better communication between departments.
