There are handful of hot yoga studios in the world that operate at the level of mastery. The Hot Room Encinitas has earned that title.
Many of us do hot yoga to cleanse, get in shape, clear the mind, and feel superhuman, among many other things. This in mind: what makes a hot yoga studio stand out?
Heat. It’s gotta be hot, and even more important, at a consistent temperate. I want to be sure that if I have a class where I feel too hot, it wasn’t because the room temperate changed that day, but rather my hydration levels were off, for example. The owner is very particular about this. Expect a consistently hot room.
Consistent Cadence. If I’m taking a fixed-series class, I want the timing to be the same for each class, so I can gauge my growth. The timing of the teachers here is excellent.
Motivation. There are many ways to motivate people. Among the best ways, is group motivation. The teachers at The Hot Room fully understand the power of group dynamics, and do what they can to keep you in rhythm with the class...and they are keen. If you are truly tired, and are feeling slow, they don’t even bat an eye and they let you be...but if you are distracted, or fidgeting, for example, they will surely let you know to bring you back.
Clean. The place is spotless. Cleaned between classes, and just meticulous in general.
Knowledgeable Teachers. They know the body, and they know the yoga. Ask them questions. They will likely you give you a holistic response.
Challenging. This is by no means “easy” yoga. It is incredibly challenging, yet, suitable for all levels. Whether you are brand new to yoga, or have been practicing for decades...expect a challenge. If you want easy yoga, go somewhere else
Sense of Community. People are friendly there, and get to know each other. It’s nice to know a little about the people you are practicing with.
One more thing that is specific and unique to this studio: the fusion class. It is phenomenal. Similar to Bikram, it is a fixed series (so you can track your progress), and is a mix between vinyasa and hatha. Be prepared to really work, yet feel extremely energized after. Truly a gem in the yoga world, and the only place that offers it is here.
A+ studio. Can’t wait...
Read moreAs someone with a marathoning “habit” who fancies themselves athletic, I absolutely attribute my improved health, athleticism, and ability to run marathons (over the age of 40) to the yoga classes and instructors at The Hot Room Encinitas. The studio owner, Rebekah, has designed an intentional space with clean aesthetics - and maintains a fastidiously clean studio so students can comfortably practice in an appropriately and consistently hot room. Additionally, all of the instructors are fabulous, challenging, equally encouraging, and refreshingly genuine - the Bikram classes adhere to the tradition without all the yogi pomp one can get at other studios.
I also appreciate the diversity of the classes. I believe the reservation system ensures that the studio is appropriately spaced for comfort for all students (definitely needed considering the heat and likely sweat) while being accessible for all. Moreover, I have been impressed by overt physical and personal wellness gains in my classmates and regular attendees. There is a natural, supportive camaraderie that exists with many students (I have never experienced this at other studios).
In the era of Peloton and streaming fitness classes, I can vehemently attest that one cannot replicate the physical experience (studio space and heat!), relationships, and personal growth as I have had practicing yoga at The Hot Room Encinitas. I can’t say enough positive things about Rebekah and the instructors, and I most strongly encourage everyone to try a class! My personal favorites are Amy’s Bikram 75, Rebekah’s Bikram 60, Amanda’s Fusion, and Hilary’s Vinyasa (though every instructor is great and...
Read moreFirst of all I want to say that I loved everything about the Hot Room experience. I have been practicing for 13 plus years and I’ve been to a lot of studios over the years, so I can be a little picky. I took the new owners class, and she has a real mastery of sequencing and cueing in such a way to get you deeply into the pose. Her playlist was amazing and the vibe was perfect. I was a little hesitant about the heat at first, but it was just right and I got a really awesome purge! For me it wasn’t too hot, it was just right. I went back to a second class there a few days later and again I had an amazing experience, so I will definitely be figuring out a membership. The other women there were friendly and again the vibe is great! I highly recommend The Hot Room...
