Such good Naan (plain and onion are good, while the badami was interesting, but the garlic cilantro is the best), as well as the vegetable samosas, chicken vindaloo, chicken tikka (comes out on hot plate), aloo gobi, aloo matar. My favorite dishes, however, are the Nawaratan Korma (Vegetable Coconut Curry), Vegetable Biryani and Chicken Biryani (although when I had the Vegetable Coconut Curry with the lunch special, it wasn't quite as good as the dinner dish). My kids and I also love the chicken tikka masala. The spiciness of the curry dishes seems to vary a lot. Mild/2-3 is good, medium/5 can be pretty hot with some dishes, but not hot with others. Their lunch specials are a great deal (lentil soup, which is pretty good, two curries, rice and naan) for $8!! Kingfisher beer, and the Woodbridge and Bella Syrah wines were good too....

Extremely disappointed. We ordered a chilli Chicken for starters and we got a half cooked chicken. The sauce was not even marinated on the chicken. We ordered a chicken Biriyani and a chicken curry. The Biriyani had no salt. It tasted like colored rice. When questioned about the Biriyani, the owner stated that it is a North Indian Biriyani and does not taste like dum Biriyani. Even though it was North Indian it did not have any flavor. In the end we were not charged for the Biriyani. The chicken curry was the same chicken as the chilli chicken. I think the cook just washed the same chicken and add different sauces to it. There was no difference in the taste. The only thing we enjoyed was the mango lassi.

Awesome authentic food and they are not afraid of making it spicy for you! They really take great care with ingredients and quality of spices in the food. Once you try this place all other indian/Himalayan food will taste less bright and muddled. Cannot recommend this place more.

Update: been ordering from here regularly for the past three years and the quality and reliability of this place are still exceptional.

Updated Update: unlike many other restaurants that reduced quality, service, or offerings after the pandemic, Himalayan Kitchen has upheld all aspects of their business and still provide the best Himalayan food in North County. We are still amazed at the quality of the experience every time we come...
