We just fell in love with the little town of Ennis! We were here the Saturday before the eclipse, and a free country concert was taking place on the main street outside the visitor center. So clean, so family friendly, I wished we could have stayed longer. The visitor center was closed, but the door was unlocked and with local teenagers coming in and out. I peeked my head in and asked if I could quickly grab a bluebonnet trail map. Instead I was invited inside and asked to put a sticker on the United States map, indicating where we were visiting from. Everybody was SO NICE. One of the ladies then marked on the trail exactly where to drive to see the most beautiful bluebonnet field, since we had little daylight left. The directions were perfect. Read moreThe staff at the Visitor and Welcome Center were incredibly helpful and provided us with valuable guidance on navigating the trails with the map they provided. Our overall experience exploring the bluebonnet flowers and trails was fantastic. At one point during our drive, the lush green surroundings adorned with yellow and orange bonnet flowers made us feel like we were not in Texas. I highly recommend visiting with family and suggest bringing along food for a picnic. Admission and parking are completely free, making it an affordable outing.
