Edit: After a long delay, I am back to post about changing out the head unit and putting in a rear view camera. The experience was (again) fantastic. I dropped off my car when I was heading out on a business trip, the price was fair, and the work was great.

They installed a key fob receiver, connected it to a fob (previously I had to only use the key to lock/unlock the car) and now my car can lock/unlock and even pop the trunk! It's such a night and day difference from when I had to go up to the drivers door and use the key.

They also installed the head unit, which has made long roadtrips, and even listening to music a much better experience. The rear camera also helps a lot because this is the longest car I've ever owned.

Again, great work, reasonable price.

I love music, I love music with a lot of bass, operatic solos, pop, jazz, metal, alternative and country, so any audio system in any car I drive has to be exceptional. I brought my car in after purchasing an under-seat subwoofer (pictured) to be installed, because with the hybrid system being different I wasn't sure I could do it.

They took exceptional care of me, the price was fair, and any further work was discussed prior to doing it (when I had installed the speakers previously, I had not properly re-attached the doors, because it required a tool I did not have). They are honest and fair people to work with.

Even though the installation was perfect, the hybrid system, when switching back and forth from EV/engine power, caused the subwoofer to give off deafening levels of distortion, and let out a nausea inducing steady hum even when turned down completely.

Eddie has been a godsend working through this, and there is a reason they are so positively reviewed, their service is absolutely unparalleled. You are not just part of a checklist, they take pride in their work, and want you to be happy with what you receive.

I highly recommend them to anyone looking to work on their audio, they are knowledgeable, fair, and do great work. I will definitely be back to replace the cassette-using head unit in my other car in the near future (also pictured) and update my review...

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I recently engaged Frank and his team at Fairfax Car Stereo Systems to install an entirely new sound system in my 2008 Nissan Xterra, including: JVC DVD / Bluetooth Headunit, Subwoofer / Sub Amp, Six Speakers with dedicated Speaker Amp, and Rear View Camera. In a nutshell, I found the people in this shop to be knowledgeable, flexible, personable, professional, and transparent.

All system components were installed within the estimated timeframe (24 hours) and the install work exceeded my expectations of quality. The final cost was within 10% of the estimate quoted to me, and Frank proactively contacted me in advance of performing any “add-on” work that came up through the course of install to explain why it was necessary and how it would impact the bottom line, all of which I found to be reasonable and understandable. For example, I’d bought the wrong wiring harness for the head unit, so Frank personally tracked down the appropriate harness and made a trip out to Leesburg to procure the part.

I've previously done my own sound system installs on two vehicles, and through those experiences I've gained a couple of insights: no install will go entirely as planned because every car / system combination has its own nuances / challenges, and the work will take you at least 3x longer than expected. For these reasons, I wanted this install done by professionals, and done right. I also like supporting small businesses and I found the quote from Fairfax Car Stereo to be in line with the “big box” stores. If you have the time and patience to try it on your own – by all means enjoy the process – but if you lack the time or know-how and have the financial capacity to know the work is done right, I highly recommend this shop.

Frank and his team are world-class!! I spent several weeks looking carefully into whether I should spend a significant amount of $$ upgrading my car stereo--a truly costly luxury given how everything else has become doubly expensive after the pandemic. I visited multiple shops in the metro area, and when I came to Car Stereo Systems, after hearing what I wanted done, the owner Frank spent about two minutes explaining to me the options are available at his shop. Unlike other shops whose staff tried to push me into expensive systems, Frank did not push anything. At all. He simply presented the options as they were. I spent another week reading product reviews and comparing prices, and concluded that while other places will offer cheaper alternatives, including national big chain stores like Best Buy and Amazon, what I will get at Frank's shop is quality components that the owner will stand by. When I brought my car in, he got the install completed and tested multiple times in 3 hours, and the job was absolutely perfect. The mechanical install was flawless and well thought-out and well-placed under the hood and in the interior, and the sound quality was superb. I had been afraid that after doubling the system's power output, my car was going to sound like another one of those thousand-watt thumping things that roam the streets. What I got was a master-craftsman at his best, a pro-level tuning of the system. The sound was classy, elegant, controlled, and matches exactly the look and feel of my car. I actually could not leave my car when I got home, and just sat in the driveway and listened to tracks after tracks. If I could give these guys a 6-star rating, I would.
