Wasn't sure how I wanted to score this one so I did in between. I love skating and my little ones wanted to actually try skating for once and it's my sons birthday so we came here to skate. It's nice has a bouncy area and skating. But because of the fact I had to pay 5 dollars to breath and occupy space there so my Littles could skate and I wasn't skating I most likely won't be back. I don't agree paying to occupy space. Space is free. Air is free. So in a way I wanted to give 1 star but the place is nice so I gave middle and then decided to express my take on it and whoever sees it can choose for themselves. But I have morals and what not and I will not pay to occupy space. That's just crazy. To my knowledge I've been other places rinks swimming many different places if your not partaking in it but have little ones who are and don't charge you to sit there. It's just crazy. People were kind and like I said was nice place but I'm not OK with things like that in the world pay me to occupy space even though I paid for all my little to be there already. I sat here.
Doesn't let me reply. I understand you have a fee to prevent that. But I brought my kids there. I was watching my kids I paid for my kids but still need to pay a fee? Yeah don't make sense. I get you wanna charge someone who just wants to come in and cool off prevents them from coming in. But that doesn't justify me having to pay I wasn't there just to cool off I wasn't there watching others kids. I was there with my little ones. Plus not to mention you can easily tell anyone to leave who's not there skating and not there with kids of their own. Rather then make parents pay who's already paid for their kids to be there. That doesn't make...
Read moreI was visiting from Charleston to see family, and they spoke highly of this place, so I was excited to take my 10-year-old and 4-year-old. I spent $60 for both kids to use the bounce house and for all three of us to skate. It was pricey, but as long as the kids had fun, I didn’t mind.
However, when it was time to skate, my son got scared, and we didn’t even make it off the carpet. I politely went to the front desk and asked if a partial refund was possible, making it clear that I completely understood if it wasn’t. One of the employees was trying to be helpful, but then a rude older woman (who looks like your great aunt Kathy who smokes a pack of marble reds, still dresses like a 80s slut and thinks she can pick up any man) loudly shut him down and spoke to both of us condescendingly. I wasn’t upset about not getting a refund—I was just asking—but her attitude was completely uncalled for.
I walked away to avoid conflict, but moments later, a family member told me that this same woman and other staff members (who all looked to be in their 50s if they are younger then they should have made better life choices) were openly bashing me, calling me names, just because I asked a simple question. The entire time we were there, the staff was rude and unprofessional. At one point, I accidentally gave the wrong shoe size for my son, and the reaction I got made it seem like I had asked for their firstborn child.
I’m typically a nice person but I will match someone’s energy ten fold. Absolutely terrible customer service. If you want to spend your money somewhere that actually values customers, go elsewhere. 10/10, do...
Read moreHad my kiddo's 7th birthday party here, and it was a blast! Planning was stress-free, as the owner was very responsive to email (I appreciated this so much). The staff were well-prepared and professional with rules and procedures for wristbands etc clearly laid out. Party pricing was in line with or cheaper than some other local party venues, with Retro Skate having more to offer in my opinion. The facility was fantastic- younger kids enjoyed bouncing, with plenty of room for adults to hang out inside and outside of the big 'party room.' We also had a great time skating. Whatever material the rink is made out of is SO SMOOTH AND FAST! We will definitely be back. The only downside I can think of-- and it is a stretch-- is that the arcade games/tokens seem to be a little pricey in my opinion, but it's really not a big deal because there is so much else to do. I also wish that we had a little more than 20 minutes to set up for the party, 30 or even 45 would make it a little less stressful-- although I understand there are time constraints with other parties going on. These complaints are minor nitpicks; overall I highly recommend Retro Skate as a party venue or just a fun place to go skate or bounce.
Love the retro decor and theming. The vibes are immaculate, and the music is a good mix. Honestly, going here has rekindled my love of inline skating, and I'm already thinking about...
