I have attended a few times to the fair since I migrated to Minnesota since 2018. The state fair is a must visit venue in the summertime. It has a variety of foods, different types of custom brewed beers, a number of games, and a lot more.
I am going to highlight a few things here for a new visitor. If you are a cheese lovers, I would definitely check the Mouth Trap and Miller's cheese curds 🧀 out! Mouth Trap offers only traditional cheese curds but the texture and taste are unique. The Miller's cheese curds are famous in multiple flavors, and each of them are delicious.
Next, Sweet Martha's cookies 🍪 are the best cookies in the fair, maybe in the MN as well. There are several booths in the fair and you can gauge how well their cookies based on the booth numbers. If you have a sweet tooth, you wouldn't be regretting having it.
Moving on, the roasted corns 🌽 prepared by State Fair Corn Roast are mouthwatering. The caramelization of the roasted surface of a corn, with a combinations of natural sweetness and flavorful seasonings like pepper and salt, makes it a unforgettable corn eating experience. I would absolutely recommend it.
Lastly, in the Minnesota Craft Brewers present a plenty of beers 🍺 choices, and they are brewed by all the featured brewery in Minnesota. Have you ever tried a Peanut Butter Stout ? or Jalapeno Cream Ale? The beers presented here consists of all kind of flavors, from spicy to sweet, bitter to sour, you can name it. A beer lover should be recommended to be here!
All in all, there are definitely still tons of great food, place and experience to explore, as the fair primarily is to maximize the experience of Minnesota visitors! Thus, you are not limited to the recommendation here for...
Read moreAs a transplant to MN, this was my first time to your Great Minnesota Get Together and it was pretty underwhelming.
Per usual, the food had no flavor because y'all seem to be afraid of anything more than ketchup - like those pronto pups? Where. Was. The. Flavor? From the ketchup? Get out of here! Put some flava in the batter! Like what is even the big deal about those things?
Then where is the freaking corn on the cob bruh? Is it hidden? Do I need a treasure map? Back in Wisconsin, it was a HUGE thing to have corn on the cob and it was EVERYWHERE at our state fair and at literally every other church festival, County fair, etc. Do Minnesotans hate corn on the cob? Ohhh it has flavor. That's gotta be it.
Let's also talk about how it was $49.00 to get in for 2 adults and 1 kid. Wild. And, $120 for a stuffed animal, which I didn't buy because I'm not crazy. We stopped at Fluffy Donuts and there was a Banana Cream Pie donut and I was excited... Finally some flavor. Y'all when I tell you that it was the worst donut I've ever had... It was literally a vanilla frosted donut. WHERE IS THE BANANA?! Banana chips instead of real bananas on the top in the frosting. Then you had to eat like 75% of the donut until you got some banana pudding... So yeah $9 for that bad boy. Rip off.
Anyway, best part of the entire thing? The park and ride... No joke.
And yeah, didn't even stop and get MaRtHa'S cOoKiEs because they aren't that great either, the ones I bake are better. I said what I said.
P.S. Your all you can drink milk is now $2....
Read moreLost track as to how many years I've done the Minnesota State Fair. I've seen MANY changes to the fairgrounds many of which im not sure were for the better. Starting with the $20 admission. Going to the fairgrounds if you are bringing the family is going to be out of reach when you total up everything for the day. The old Machinery hill is a shell of its former self. This year (2025) it seemed like there was even less. The choices of food remain abundant but make sure you bring plenty of cash. This year pronto pups were $7, crab fritters were $12, the larger order of cheese curds were a whopping $22, and a lemonade was $7. We skipped our usual fudge when we seen $27 a pound. I cant speak to the Midway prices as we dont do that. We were disappointed to find the horse barns closed all day because of a "changover". We were able to catch a horse show in the Colosseum but not get up close to the horses. In 2025 post it to your website or social media so people can adjust their trip if they wish. Parking I would never park on grounds at the $25 per car when there are free park n rides with a less than 10 min bus ride. I miss the days of state fair i...
