My colleagues and I brought our children here for a play date. I brought my infant and their children are toddlers. Unfortunately floaters for infants aren’t allowed which I respect. However, a female lifeguard questioned me about my shirt and army shorts. She informed me that I could not wear my shirt and shorts. I explained that I had a caesarean and my OB instructed me to wear elastic banded shorts. The manager was informed and had to get a answer from a higher supervisor which took thirty minutes. I looked over while in the children’s pool and a lady was wearing a sports bra and shorts and she was never questioned. Fast forward to later after I got approval from the manager and I’m getting ready to go down the baby slide with my infant when I get told no adults down the slide. Ok fine I can respect rules however, as I’m walking down the stairs a woman slides down the slide racing her daughter and does this TWICE with the same lifeguard looking at her. Thirty minutes go by and we are winding down. My colleagues and our kids are sitting in the water and the boys have been playing with their toy trucks when another lifeguard says they can’t have toy trucks in the water after they have been playing on the jungle gym with the same trucks for 2.5 hours. My colleagues and I felt like we were being picked on for every little thing. I personally felt as though I was being racially profiled as two lifeguards watched me and my infants every move. The disrespect is very unfortunate as I know members of the community including my colleagues and myself who help a lot and should receive great customer service and unfortunately did not. We definitely will not be returning. The one star is for them allowing me to continue to swim with my elastic doc approved shorts with my infant that I had...
Read moreI give it 3 stars, because the facilities are well kept, the cashiers at the splash park, general staff are pleasant, and helpful. I don’t give it 5 stars, because from what I observed- the manager is high strung and blatantly discriminates patrons. I can only imagine how he treats the young staff.
Regarding swimming lessons for children; There are only 5 spaces available per group, and the swimming classes start a week after registration opens (short registration time, and limited space).
The manager was attending the front desk late morning, and a lady asked him to sign up her daughter for swim lessons. He responded by saying that the registration doesn’t start until 7/15, paused, and said, “but I’ll go ahead and get you registered now”. Entered the child’s name in the system and collected the $45 class fee.
Maybe 5 minutes later, after I just witnessed this, I asked the manager to register my child for swimming classes. I just figured I’d go ahead and get that out of the way since I was already there, and one less thing to remember or do on a later date.
The manager asked if I was a resident of the area, I responded that I was, and then he told me registration doesn’t begin until 7/15. The manager at the aquatic center is helpful and will make exceptions if you’re of an ethnic group he prefers, which apparently I wasn’t, because I have to wait to register on 7/15.
When I read through the reviews, and saw what someone wrote about the manager, I totally believe it. Unfortunately I experienced his discriminatory...
Read moreThis was our first time coming to this park and it was great! The place is very clean, the staff are friendly and plenty of life guards posted at every area of the water park. This place is designed for little kids to about pre-teen to early teen age. The lazy river is only 2.5 feet deep and the "deep" pool is only 4ft. deep. The water slides do not open up into a pool, rather the slide just ends straight which is good for little ones that can't swim on their own just yet. I have a 6 and 11 year old and this place was perfect for them. We got here early (they open at 10 am) to beat the heat and it got pretty full right away, but there was still plenty of space to sit and put your stuff down. I like that they had different genres of music playing on the speakers outside. It made for a more fun experience. What I didn't necessarily like was the black mold on the floor of the kid water playground area. Not sure if that is safe or not. Also, the family restroom 🚻 has no air circulating through there. I was drenched in sweat trying to bathe my little girl afterwards and then she got cranky because of the heat in there. Not sure why there is no window or slow a/c air circulating through there. Other than that, the place is amazing. Oh! And there is also a concession stand where I kept smelling hot yummy food! LOL I think I smelled pizza! Coolers are...
