Tantra Aveda Spa — Attraction in Ferndale

Although I arrived late for my appointment, I do not think that my tardiness should be an excuse for the treatment I received. Upon arriving at the establishment for the first time I was greeted by a woman yelling at me from the top of the stairs as I was coming up about how I was late and basically how my service will not be good because of me being late. I apologized to her and asked her nicely if there was anyone else who could do the massage because she seemed so angry with me or if I could just reschedule because I did not want to cause any conflict. This woman had not even introduced herself to me when she then told me that she was not angry but that she was just letting me know and continued to guide me to the back. After she asked me where my problem area was, and I told her it didn’t matter because I just got out of the hospital so she could do anything she again came with very negative energy towards me and I finally was so disturbed by this that I decided that I would rather leave than to have this angry woman touch me and bring me even more peace then I already have.

I sadly had to forfeit my $50 for this appointment but just as a reminder that people look for places like this to bring them peace and relaxation, that is not at all what I received from the very second I walked into this establishment. I am not a rude confrontational person but the very last thing I want is for someone who is clearly visibly upset with me to provide me with any service where I am expected to find some relief. The interaction I had with this employee whom I still never got her name was so hurtful I would not want anyone to ever experience the treatment I did. I hope that she was able to show some sort of kindness to the next person she met, you never know what people are going through in...

I purchased a 200$ gift card last valentine's for my wife with a 12 month expiration date. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we were not able to use it for several months and we moved out of state 6 months after purchasing. We had a trip back to MI planned 13 months after our original purchase and so given these extreme circumstances we thought we could call and discuss getting a 1-month extension to our expiration so we can use the gift card at that time. After multiple phone calls with no response, we were finally able to get a hold of someone. The person on the phone told us that was not possible and that the gift card can no longer be used, and did it in the most unprofessional and rude manner. With the COVID-19 pandemic in mind, and the extreme circumstances imposed on everyone, a little courtesy towards a paying customer would go a long way. I already paid for my card, I just want to use it! I just lost my 200$ gift card and I obviously would highly recommend NOT getting a gift card from this...

This is the most relaxing spa I have ever been to, forget the sterile, hospital feel you get in some spas - Tantra is warm, peaceful, quiet and just a nice place to be. Not to mention the amazing smells of this Aveda spa and their products, and the excellent staff! Yvette lives and breaths this place and it shows in every detail, cup of tea and kind word you receive the moment you walk in. I have recently moved from Ferndale to the west side of the state, but still read all of my monthly newsletters to hear about the specials and dream of the day when I can just turn off life and spend a day at Tantra.
