Stepping into Frank Lloyd Wright's Rosenbaum House in Florence, Alabama was like entering a time capsule of architectural brilliance. It's not just a house; it's a symphony of design, nature, and history, all orchestrated by the master himself. Imagine this: clean lines dancing with sunlight, every corner whispering tales of innovation and creativity. The Rosenbaum House isn't just a building; it's a living, breathing testament to Wright's genius. As I wandered through the rooms, I couldn't help but marvel at the seamless fusion of form and function. Whether you're a design aficionado or just someone who appreciates beauty, this place will leave you spellbound. So, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to this architectural gem. What an extraordinary experience! This home was meticulously repaired, which cost a staggering $750K!! I'm so very grateful it was, though, since I enjoyed the home and nearby museum immensely. The staff were so kind and willing to answer any questions the attendees had. They were quite knowledgeable about the home, the original owners, and Andrew Lloyd Wright. Being in the space is truly an exceptional opportunity to FEEL what Wright does with space, materials, and lines. It's truly a masterpiece, and Wright was obviously ahead of his time in terms of design. I would, without a doubt, highly recommend the tour. I have BIG hopes of duplicating the garden at my home (and expanding on it). Please go see it and I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we did!
We visited another property owned by the City of Florence and they recommended Rosenbaum to us so we made our way there and we enjoyed the tour. The check in and gift shop is across the street, then one of the staff gives you an overview of this design and architect and some details of how the home came into existance. You walk across to the building and the tour guide gives you details about each area of the home and details of the designer. There are several people in the group but the guide was very informative and patient with all questions. Our guide knew Mrs. Rosenbaum personally and offered several interesting details about the family. Frank Lloyd Wright designed homes in several states and other countries, a neat tidbit of Florence history!
I wouldnt say I'm a FLW enthusiast, but I've always been interested in his work. This is the first time I've experienced his work in person and I was very impressed. Unfortunately photos are not allowed inside, although exterior photos are fine. The interior is MUCH smaller than expected, probably because photos have to be taken with wide angles to get everything in one shot. I mentioned I got the feeling of being on a boat and another tourist said, "Or a train." Indeed. The house has the feeling that someone was living there and had just left for the store. I have great appreciation for the City of Florence saving this place from demolition.
It was everything I dreamed it would be. I actually teared up when I went inside. I was immediately in love. We couldn't have ask for a better guide either. She was very informative and entertaining. I wish I could hug the mayor that secured the house for an Alabama and American treasure and had it meticulously and properly restored. I want to go back . Wish I could sit and read a book in the library 😊 A must see if you love architecture and have not experienced a Frank Lloyd Wright house. Not recommended for kids and not wheelchair friendly. Tight spaces and corners. The house feels very large though.
My wife and I went to the Frank Lloyd Wright - Rosenbaum Home in Florence Alabama! We really enjoyed it very much, the tour was great! It was so awesome to actually get to see inside a Frank Lloyd Wright home. My only complaint is that photography was not allowed inside the home. We took a lot of pictures of the outside of the house and thru the windows though. Our favorite thing was the kitchen and bedrooms, Jerry gave us a great presentation! Jerry was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend this to everyone
