PET PARENTS BEWARE! Honestly, please do not take your dogs here. Nothing good will come of it. Over the past week, both myself and a friend of mine have had our dogs attacked almost immediately after walking through the gate.
Other pet owners do not supervise their dogs. There have been numerous dog fights over the past couple of months. I was naive enough to think it wouldn't happen to our 1 year old Husky, but that was very dumb of me. Our pup has never shown any signs of aggression and we take him to various dog parks every day of the week. Mango is the only park that he has ever been attacked at, and it happened twice in a single day. Furthermore, it was completely unprovoked both times. The first owner apologized and said they were leaving so that we could stay, leashed her dog, then walked to the front near the entrance and let him off the leash again. The second owner was a complete jerk, and insisted it wasn't her dogs fault at all, yet he ran across the park to where we were only to immediately try to pick a fight. I had to pull him away before things got serious, we left right away after that.
Two days later, my friends also very friendly, non-aggressive Shephard / Eskimo mix was attacked less than a minute after walking through the gate. She required 5 staples in her neck after being attacked by a pit-bull. The owners were also very disgusting people, and blamed the other dog after their dog committed a completely unprovoked attack.
There are plenty of other dog parks that you can go to in the area, and I would highly recommend doing so if you care about the safety...
Read moreIt's a good park, but keep your guard up. Sometimes you'll be lucky enough to get there and the environment is laid back, only a few dogs and good attentive owners. Sometimes there's more dogs than people and those dogs are energetic.
A while back a special Sheppard Akita mix of mine lost strength in his hind legs because a huge dog was running extremely fast and collided with my dog from the side, directly into his hind legs.
He yelped and immediately had trouble walking. I had to carry him back to the car. He used to love sprinting and jumping. We had a lot of athletic fun, but it ended that day.
It is a great park, but keep your attention high. If Akuma, my god friend dog, and I stayed in motion and kept aware of our surroundings, that dog wouldn't have collided with him by surprise. We would have been aware, but Akuma and I were having one of our meditative moments, standing side by side and feeling the breeze, looking at the sky, taking it all in. Bonding.
He was finally at the point where we could enjoy calm moments; I wasn't just constantly trying to keep him in line, and then BAM, a huge monster of a dog rams into him. He wasn't trying to be aggressive, was just running, I think he might've been chasing something...
So, enjoy the park, but use caution. Dog fights or dog aggression isn't the only way your dog friend can get hurt...
Read moreI feel that the park is a good park other than the regulars think that they run the park. It is a public park and everyone should be welcome to use the park. I was there today with my Service Dog Tank and witnessed a man put a badge around his neck and say that "people are not going to like me now" and walk over to a couple that had there young child with them along with there dogs and told them they had to leave with there child because there was a age limit with children in the small dog park. Does the park make owners leave with there dogs when fights break out or a dog is wounded or killed.? I am a US Army Veteran that has protected this country and to see a family just out to enjoy there day to be asked to leave is really sad. I have seen this man in the small dog park before with his own dog and never knew he was a park employee. He was very unprofessional and the county should be ashamed to give someone like him power to in force rules if there is a rule of such and if so why. Some of the dogs are not socialized that come to the park and children should be...
