I really liked the first time I ordered from Kims. I got the Cuban, and I thought it was decent. Not very chunky, but it was tasty for sure and I got it through Doordash. Second time, I Doordashed again, and got the breakfast Cuban sandwich with 2 large cafe con leches. I paid what I felt was a pretty high cost, but figured it would be good. We had to have been the first order they had for the morning, since I input the order prior to the store opening. When the food arrived, the driver handed me two very small beverages - I immediately asked him if they were supposed to be larges. For $6 each, they must have been wrong. He checked, saw that we ordered larges, and was apologetic, but he couldn't tell us if what we received were large or small and mentioned contacting the store. In the meantime, I had opened up my sandwiches, and was disappointed - the breakfast Cubans seemed to be very thin and for the price IMO, not worth it. I called Kims to ask about the drinks, and the person who answered, was very short with me - stating, "We don't have any large cups, so I put them in small cups." no other mention, no apology for not letting someone know, nothing. I asked her about getting a refund on the beverages, and she just directed me to Doordash, with an attitude. This morning, I was going to try them one more time for a breakfast sandwich, and I see that all of a sudden, their delivery area is out of range of our address. Odd - we live about 3 minutes away - 1.1 miles by Google. Not sure why all of a sudden we can't Doordash from them - so we opted for Morenos, and that was hands down, the best breakfast Cuban I have ever had for about the same price. I would have loved to give Kims another chance, but it looks like they...
Read moreToday was my first time ordering from here and was much disappointed. I had ordered on Grub Hub (no issue with delivery) so I didn't experience the place in person. Despite ordering right after they opened, they were out of chicken so no chicken with yellow rice was available. They offered pulled pork which was not my first choice but decided to try it. Upon getting my order, I noticed there were no beans so I called them and was told that since my rice had beans already that there was no side beans included. Let me clarify for those of you reading this that the rice did not have beans but pigeon peas called "gandules" in Spanish. This is the first Latin place in which I was told that the beans were not included despite that there is a picture of rice and a side of beans with the main meat choice. It shouldn't matter if the rice is white, yellow or with gandules. I had also ordered a chocolate cheesecake and got a totally different dessert and upon asking them about it, was told that they didn't have any cheesecake left so gave me another chocolate type dessert. I should have also been notified of this as well and was poor customer service on their part. I ended up giving away the dessert. As for the taste, rice was dry and no flavor. I have had "arroz con gandules" many times before and this one lacked flavor. That's why the side of beans is important to compliment the rice in case it's on the drier side. The pulled pork was ok but could have been better with the flavor. Unfortunately, this was not a good lunch and couldn't go back to the restaurant to return the order since I...
Read moreDrove by the other day and noticed this cute, little spot. Tried it out today with my mom. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We got a 12 inch Cuban, an empanada, and bean soup large enough to share for a grand total of almost $13. We've got leftovers despite pigging out, lol. Cuban was on point! Fresh pork is roasted in house every 2 days. Empanada was scrumptious. My mom said the soup was a little bland compared to the other food (which, she agreed, set quite a high bar), but I really enjoyed the hearty chick pea/potato/sausage combo. Mom was fascinated by the breakfast offerings and seems quite determined to try those next. I'll have a hard time venturing away from that delectable Cuban though... Edit: Brought my mom in again. I'm officially addicted to the Cuban, but she wanted to try a salad. Got the small Greek, the veggies were tasty and crisp, plenty of ham and olives for 2 to share along with the sandwich. Kim mentioned that someone else was helping in the kitchen the last time, and she remembered my mom wishing for more in the soup. So, Kim has the memory of an elephant. I've been in several times, but she remembered my mom specifically. She gave me a cup of soup and asked me to get my mom to try this batch. This one kicked it up several notches! Totally on par with my beloved Cuban. The broth was SO flavorful, chick peas and potatoes were tender... my mother was over the moon, "THAT is how it should taste! Perfect!" Aside from the food being consistently lovely, I don't think I can say enough about the excellent service and attention to detail Kim offers in...
