Beautiful place, but disappointing visitor behavior
Nimbus Flat Recreation Area is a beautiful spot with so much to offer. Unfortunately, I can’t give it a full five stars because not all visitors treat the area with respect.
During my visit, I noticed a lot of litter despite plenty of trash cans being available. On the trail I walked, there were at least three dirty diapers left broken open, along with the usual human litter—bottles, cans, clothing, and more. The water itself wasn’t much better, with trash floating around.
The location generously provides loaner life jackets, but instead of being returned, many were left scattered—on the banks, in bushes, on the trails, under the pier, and even in the water. My family actually pulled several out of the lake while fishing this morning.
It’s disappointing to see such disregard for this beautiful place. If everyone simply cleaned up after themselves and returned items to where they belong, Nimbus Flat could remain the gem it truly is. Please, leave it as you found it—or better—for the next person to enjoy.
Thank you Park Staff and Volunteers for all you do to try to keep the location up to par. Along with all visitors that clean up after themselves (and/or more). I can only imagine what it would look like if it wasn't...
Read moreThis is a wonderful recreation area. It is very family-friendly with many places to relax and little private beach areas that you can find along the trails. It's important to come early, especially on the weekends and during any breaks, such as summer time. It gets extremely busy and hot during the summer. Make sure to pack in lots of water and sunscreen. I recommend bringing your own fold-up chairs or beach blankets. our favorite place to go is the back parking lot which has a large open picnic area and many picnic tables. There are a few barbecues as well. There is a trail at the end near a lookout deck over the water. Use that trail to find some private little beaches away from the crowds. We highly recommend coming here. If you can come here during the week when it's not so crowded, that is the best time. Bring a picnic too! and most importantly, make sure that you pay the $10 day use fee if you don't have an annual parks pass. That money is really important to keep this area clean and safe for...
Read moreHave not visited here for over 15 years. Today, I went by myself to use my new inflatable kayak. I had so much fun. Lake Natoma is a small lake along Hwy 50 and Hazel Ave. This is also close to the fish hatchery across Hazel Ave. Water was so refreshing to swim in 100+ deg. Family oriented, plenty of parking, boat ramp, beach with lifeguard (sometimes), bike trail, and Aquatics Center. I can't say anything about the restroom, since I did not use it. According to wiki, The lake is located within the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area which is responsible for maintaining the facilities and bike trails surrounding the lake. Fishing is also great here. No motorized boats allowed. Paddle board, kayak, canoe, etc Google before visiting. As of this review, parking is $10.00 per vehicle. $5.00 if you have a State of California Disabled...
