The Studio Mendocino — Attraction in Fort Bragg

Love this place! I took the Making Paint with Plant Pigments class and had the best learning experience. It was chemistry and art combined, which was super fun, and I came away with a new skill in something that I've been curious about for a long time. Sophie's class structure allowed me to experience all the different steps of the process without having to wait hours or days for certain elements to happen -- I was impressed with how prepared she was. It was all very thoughtfully designed to maximize our time together in the class. She's a great teacher who has lots of resources and experience to share, and she was very open to questions all the way through. I came away with real knowledge and a ton of enthusiasm to try making more paint on my own. Couldn't have asked for more, but...

On top of the class being so awesome, the studio space is incredibly aesthetically pleasing and just an absolute delight to be in. Aedan was working on pottery downstairs and keeping an excellent playlist going while we made paint upstairs -- the vibes were just A++. Take a class and hang out with these two! They are really doing something...

We did a sunset ceramics class with Aedan, and it was a special and memorable experience! The studio is in a charming historic water tower, and the top floor is the ceramics space for lessons. Our class was at sunset, so we were treated to gorgeous views of the sky and sea while trying our hand at ceramics.

It was our first time at the wheel and we finished the lesson with two pieces each, that will be fired and glazed and sent to us in the mail. Aedan was a patient and attentive teacher who helped us avert clay disaster at many turns and answered all our questions.

My 13-year-old daughter and I had our very first throwing experience. Despite being beginners, Aedan’s exceptionally clear instruction made the two hours fly by, and we had a truly wonderful time.

Aedan is an artist with outstanding skill, and I felt that the opportunity to be taught by him directly was extremely valuable. Furthermore, the studio itself, located within a historic water tower, offered a truly unique and memorable experience.
