Hopefully others have a better experience than I did. I took my ring to them to have the setting replaced and resized. I left it with them on Friday June 16th. I was quoted verbally by Herb (the owner) that the setting was under $100.00 and the resize should be around $15.00. He stated they would have it ready the following week.
I called that following Thursday June 25th to check in and see if it was ready. They stated the setting has not arrived yet and should be in the next week.
Again I follow up with them the following week on Wednesday June 28th and I’m told the setting is now on back order and should be in the following week. (I get things being on back order and it’s the new normal)
I call back on Thursday July 5th to check in and see if it had arrived. Walter (the manager stated they’re closed this week for the Fourth of July and to call back the next week…
Again I call back that Wednesday July 12th and the tell me my ring is at the jewelers and the wrong setting was ordered… So they will need to reorder the correct setting. (We’re already 33 days in to the original 3/5 days I was quoted.)
I finally get a call on Tuesday August 1st that my ring is back from the jewelers and I can pick it up. I arrive and put my ring on for it to be the wrong size. Herb (the owner) apologized and stated he would have it resolved and would be ready by Friday August 4th.
I come in that Friday after work to find out it still had not been resized (still a 1/2 size to big) … The lady (I forget her name) stated she had not been informed this needed to be done, since she is the one who sets these up with the jeweler.
I said I just want my ring back since they’ve had it for 50 days now and it still is not correct. The invoice showed $217.00 which I said was not what Herb had quoted me prior.
She said he’s not in and could not change this pricing… I explained I should not be charged for a resize since this hadn’t been done or done correctly. She still stated I had to pay for it since it was on the invoice unless the...
Read moreWent in to get a quote of 2 pieces of jewelry to sell, one a pendent 14k white gold, and rose gold bracelet 18k. Acid test/scratched both with no issues, also no machine used to see exact karat/ alloy percentages. Gentlemen made a mistake initially tried quoting both as 14k, don’t know if on purpose or not, simply corrected him, he didn’t go back to scratch test/acid test. So if he truly thought it was 14K and tested it for that, I believe he would of went back and acid tested for 18k..but didn’t so he could have just misspoke. Then after correcting him -the bracelet being rose gold 18k (I understand there’s a possibility it may not be exactly 18k could be closer to 17k) he stated well the color is off for 18k gold and he could tell with his eye a lot of copper is in the bracelet, I simply stated that makes sense with it being rose gold..right? He kinda shrugged looked back at the bracelet and said yeah but the color is off..the gold market at the time was close to $3700. He quoted $3,984, sure, moved past it. The pendant at 7.5 grams and the bracelet at 35 grams. He quoted $2849 for both. I stated we were off from what I want for 35grams of 18k gold and a 7.5 gram 14k pendant, he came back with “nobody deals in grams, only thieves do that, we deal in penny weight.” Got a little close to being offensive with my lack of knowledge and stating only thieves use grams..(which is the main way you buy, so I didn’t know) I can’t remember my exact calculations but I was closer to $3500, I understand they may not give exact gold worth, even if you bump the bracelet down to 17k gold. The bracelet alone is close to $2900 and pendant around $500 in whole value. So I would have accepted maybe $3200. It may be normal business to to give/offer 80%, but I wasn’t going to sell it for that. Was not in a bad spot or in need of money so I simply thanked them for their time and took...
Read moreI'm writing in response to Justin Goff's review. Justin Goff is the actual owner of multiple Gold Wave locations in the Destin/FWB area.
I am part of an online women's group where ladies can buy and sell items. I saw a ring last week posted by Goff's girlfriend for $1700.00. I was interested in it and asked her to meet my husband and I at 'A Diamond and Gold Exchange' to have the ring authenticated. Charlie the owner along with his cousin tested the diamonds/looked over the ring and placed 3 estimated values on the ring (retail, wholesale and gold value). Goff's girlfriend was unhappy that 'A Diamond and Gold Exchange' did not agree with what she though the ring was worth.
Justin Goff did not pay $5000 for the ring that his girlfriend was trying to sell me and I feel at the end of the day his girlfriend was out to scam me and make a pretty penny off of a ring worth far less and the HONEST owners of 'A Diamond and Gold Exchange' prevented that...
