I recently shopped at Floor & Decor while planning a remodel for my kitchen and living room, and overall I had a very good experience. The first thing that stood out was the sheer size of the store—rows and rows of tile, hardwood, vinyl plank, and stone. The selection is honestly overwhelming (in a good way). I was able to compare dozens of styles side by side without having to hop between multiple stores. Their pricing is also noticeably lower than what I saw at Home Depot and Lowe’s, especially on porcelain tile and luxury vinyl plank.
The sales associates were friendly and checked in a couple of times without being pushy. One of them even walked me through the differences between several brands of vinyl plank, pointing out which ones held up better with pets and moisture. That helped me make a more informed decision.
Ordering was straightforward, and I appreciated that they had plenty of stock on hand so I didn’t have to wait weeks for delivery. Loading was a bit chaotic—since the store is warehouse-style, I had to wait about 30 minutes for staff to bring my pallet out. Not a huge deal, but it’s worth noting if you’re on a schedule.
As for quality, the tile I purchased looks beautiful installed, and so far it’s holding up really well. That said, I’ve read some mixed reviews online about certain vinyl and laminate products, so I’d recommend carefully reading labels, asking about warranties, and maybe buying a sample piece before committing to a large order.
The one downside for me was their return policy. I tried to return a couple of unopened boxes after 95 days (past their 90-day limit), and they wouldn’t take them back. I get that policies are policies, but given the scale of most renovation projects, it would be nice if they were a little more flexible.
Overall, I’d definitely shop here again, especially for tile and stone. If you know exactly what you want, Floor & Decor can save you a lot of money and give you plenty of design options to choose from. Just be prepared for a big-box style experience—great prices and variety, but not always the most personalized or...
Read moreThird party contractors much like their competition. Shipping charges for products between stores usually not refundable. May not be a problem. But note if you need to return product your store may not be stocking you may need to return it to a store that does, depending on the store and their policy. Walnut Valley store was GREAT for returns but Fountain Valley Floor and Decor had a less pleasing policy. At Fountain Valley product not there in full after sending contractor to pick it up, a mistake on their part, may have been in a different part of the storage area and they did not know it. Employees we met were top notch so someone else must have dropped the ball. Luckily got a refund they do not normally give for shipping. So all worked out. You better make sure you have transportation of product costs done between store and your work site. They offer third party shipping so it may be dropped at your curb or ? and they don't know as it is from a third party. Could of been a nightmare as we had a distance from the curb to the actual site. Might be best to pick what you want and use your own local private contractor to handle it all or be careful and beware of what happend above. Luckily their third party contractor agreed to pick it all up and take it to the worksite, for much much much less money than using the separate third party shipper they offerd. Note this may be the same for stores that compete with Floor and Decor so the above should not preclude you from buying from them. I would use the above to be wary of what can happen from any...
Read moreSo, here is the deal. In the past I bought stuff from Home Depot, Lowe's, HD Supply, Lumber Liquidators and I had nothing but really good customer service on everything I bought. For example, I bought some mirror closet doors from Lowe's and one of the doors shattered as I tried to load it into my car. I spoke with the guy inside and he immediately said: "Don't worry about it. I'll order another one for you for free". I have several other examples from Home Depot and HD Supply. Well, here it comes. About a month ago I bought some tile from the Floor and Decor in Downey. After waiting more than an hour I finally was able to have them bring the tile to me in the loading area in the back. Today, after I finished the project, I decided to return 5 boxes of tile that I had left. The Floor and Decor in Fountain Valley was closer to me and I decided to return it there. I did that hundreds of times with Home Depot, Lowe's and HD Supply. I knew about Floor and Decor's policy about returning the merchandise back in less than 90 days for a refund, otherwise it's store credit. Well, here comes the nasty stuff. At the place in Fountain Valley they told me that they don't carry that product and that I have to go to the store in Downey to return it. 5 cases times 65 pounds each, that's a lot to put it back in my car and drive all the way to Downey. I've talked to a manager but he didn't care about it. So, my advice is: Stick with the other stores that would really appreciate you as a customer. I will never shop at this store again. They don't deserve our business!...
