A frond of mine convinced me to sign up for AMCâs movie subscription service, and yesterday was only my first day in the program. We went yesterday to see a âdouble featureâ (MUFASA & Sonic 3), but I had to call ahead to make sure they had descriptive audio devices. They confirmed that they did, and when we got to the theater they said to just bring it back and swap it for a new one between movies. However, what the staff DIDNâT tell me was that their theater was VERY inaccessible for blind people⌠starting from even the parking lot (their entrance is on the side of the building for some reason, and there was a very narrow and weird path we had to walk to get there, with almost no lighting after dark). The lobby was not strditured very well, and the confessions cue was both confusing and narrow (my understanding was that you had to order different items at different doubters, then pay somewhere completely different, weaving through a maze of very tight walkwaysâI almost got ran over by other people at least once), so I decided to only get a soda. Then our seats were all the way in the back row, and I had to climb A LOT of stairs just to get up there (if sometime told me about this I couldâve switch to their accessible row).
The audio description device worked just fine for the fist movie, but when it was time to switch them and the second movie started, I noticed within two seconds that they set it up wrong, making it play ENHANCED audio instead of descriptions of what was on the screen. My friend left right as the movie started, came back five minutes later, and the device was completely non-functional. NOTHING was playing through the headphones, despite my friend seeing that it was turned on, so I basalt had to watch the rest of the movie and listen to what was happening⌠and it detracted from my experience since I had no idea what was happening other than the dialogue or the music.
Iâm very frustrated that the staff did not seem very supportive, and when we were leaving there wasnât even anyone at the service desk I could speak to about the issues with accessibility that they clearly have at this location. I had booked to come back on Friday to see another movie, but I since cancelled that and am choosing to go elsewhere. Thankfully, I donât live close to this theater at all, so I have plenty of other options available.
Very distracting experience⌠if youâre a disabled moviegoer, Iâd strongly suggest NOT going hereâespecially if youâre blind, or probably in a wheelchair, due to the layout issues mentioned above. Trust me, youâre way better off going to another AMC slightly...
Read moreThe past several times I have gone to this theatre, I have had nothing but horrible experiences. Most recently, I went to see the Lion King. My wife and I were sitting next to a couple with their child in a theatre with about 50 other people this past Sunday.
The child was disruptive, so first the parents gave the child some metal cars to "play with" and throw loudly down the stairs. Then, they brought him back to his seat and gave him candy as they encouraged him to bounce as high as he could and scream during "Hakuna Matata".
This was the first time I spoke to theatre staff and was told management would take care of it. They didn't come.
Then, the couple lets their child run in circles and yell constantly.
This was the second time I spoke to theatre staff and was told management would take care of it. They didn't come.
Then, during the final 40 minutes of the movie, the mother took the child to the bottom two rows of seats by the screen, and proceeded to let her child run laps in front of the screen, tickling him and encouraging him to run faster.
This was the third time I spoke to theatre staff and was told management would take care of it. They didn't come.
After the movie was over, I went to speak to customer service. I asked for a refund. The staff looked up my ticket, and said "I can't give a refund. Do it with AMC customer service online."
I contacted AMC customer service, and after thirty minutes of back and forth, in which customer service called me a list for saying management did nothing and that the manager should have given me a refund right there, I was told to contact fandango to have my tickets refunded.
I contacted Fandango today, and was predictably told "We can't refund your ticket. The theatre has to."
This was just my most recent experience. But every time I go, it seems to be worse. Complaints are not taken seriously, people are disruptive in every showing, and it just goes to show why theatres like Alamo are superior because of their policies on disruptive behavior. People don't seem to care, and management somehow seems to care less. I am just trying to get a refund for a pretty...
Read moreI haven't seen a movie in a real movie theater for over 2 years! I have been looking forward to the experience again the whole time. My theater experience at AMC 24, Highlands Ranch, did not disappoint. The seats they have are very comfortable and I love to put my feet up and just relax. There's nothing to complain about at this theater, they even have a small bar off to the side where you can order a beer or a mixed drink, and there is some limited seating at the bar. It wasn't until I went up to the concession area that I found my only complaint. I purchased a small bag of popcorn, and red licorice. When I went up to pay, the young man told me it would be $8.50. I asked him if he had made a mistake and he said no. The licorice is $4 and the small bag of popcorn is $4.50. I didn't complain in front of him but I did raise my eyebrows and he gave me a knowing look. I understand that movie theaters make the most money on food they provide rather than on the movies themselves. It like It should be the other way around. At least this way one can make a choice not to purchase food or a drink If money is an issue. I know that the prices will never be rolled back anywhere that they have been raised, and because of the pandemic, things only got worse a little faster. So if I want this experience I will go knowing I'll have to pay for it (and I may bring my own licorice from now on). I had a great time! I was glad to be back at the theater. It was very clean, including the rest rooms. It felt "pandemic safe". You can even keep empty seats in between your party and the other parties. Home TV screens are getting bigger. Surround sound can be purchased for watching movies at home. And, those options are great. But for me, there's something about sharing a laugh, or a tear, in the dark, with a whole theater of strangers, that can't be replaced. đ So go support your local theater and have a good time...
