I should start by stating that we have been going to Los Dos for many years, going back to the store on County Line and Holly. On this visit to the Highlnds Ranch store, it was already getting crowded but I was told that my wife and I could be seated immediately. We were offered a booth right next to the entrance and I asked if we could be seated further back. The hostess took us to the back and seated us at a four top table. Next to us was a group of about 7 young women and one young man. It appeared that they may have been there for quite a while. They were so raucous that we could barely hear each other. This isn't the fault of the restaurant but it helped set the tone for our visit. I decided to try something different than my usual cheese and onion enchiladas so I ordered a ground beef taco and a smothered tamale. Our food arrived quickly but it wasn't piping hot so I decided to eat the tamale first. I'm not one to dawdle when I'm eating but by the time that I got to the taco, it was about room temperature and the side that was lying on the plate was so soggy that I couldn't pick it up. The loud group at the next table didn't quiet down or leave until we were ready to leave. This is the first time that I have ever been dissappointed at Los Dos Potrillos that I can recall. As I said, the problems were mostly beyond the control of the business. We will go back, probably for take out since the Highlands Ranch store seems to be crowded from opening to closing. I would suggest that, if you order tacos, there, eat them first and, perhaps, bring ear plugs. I still believe that the food there is the best Mexican...
Read moreOMtG (OH MAN that's GOOD). Before tonight I didn't even know this was a thing. But wow. Unlike fajitas you do not have to choose, you get beef, pork, chicken, shrimp cactus a whole jalapeno, onions, green chili and a boatload of cheese, did I mention guacamole, sour cream rice, beans and tortillas. It should have been advertised as a meal for two or more. I brought home 2+ lb of leftovers and I'm looking forward to them. I'm talking about: Molcajete. WOW, I ate too much. Check out the picture and especially the video. Don't for get to like them for me. Yes it's a tough job but I'm willing to sacrifice this so you don't feel obligated to expose your self to an unknown dining experience, yes don't mention it, I'm glad to be a helper.
My previous experience: Great dinner, as expected. What was the different was the staff and the management. This place is running incredibly smooth. The employees are a team, dedicated and working togetheras a team busting their a*s to get it right. We saw it from the reception area there's a cashier, a curbside wait station and host station. The bar was serving all of the house needs and the table wait line. Once we were seated the bus team the wait staff the cooks all a well oiled machine no labor shortages here. Way to go management this doesn't happen on accident or by luck. You have a winning combination in place, this credit goes to the top, and every support...

Service was great. Every employee we encountered was kind and smiled etc.
That being said, it was pretty much the only outstanding thing about this restaurant.
I have been told by several people "go to Los Dos" "amazing food" "best in town" I found their food was not worthy of any of those compliments. I ordered a combo with multiple items, my friend a chimichanga, another friend fajitas and my spouse had a Carne asada plate. We arrived at noon on a Saturday, only 1 hour after they opened and were shocked to see as many patrons as there were.
Each plate was cold. The cheeses that were used in plates with melted cheeses were clearly very old as they were extremely greasy leaving an upset stomach feeling very shortly after eating. The fajitas weren't sizzling at all.. like literally...not at all. That should have been clue 1. My friends chimi was smothered and looked really tasty when it was put down but after she cut into it, realized it was excessively dry and hard to eat at all. She may have gotten 25% of it down and just ate chips the rest of the time.
All in all its just meh Mexican tex mex. Nothing authentic except the Tortillas being made in house. The food was a 2 out of 10 and that's being generous, especially for how expensive it was. Over $100 for 4 plates and 4 sodas. Wow. Insane.
Save your tummy and your money and go to ele tequileno or...
