Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Colorado

Updating the review below: The manager of the restaurant reached out to me directly to make things right. He provided some gift cards for the experience and apologized for the poor service, and we went back last week and had the same food. It was excellent, and our server, Ryan, was very attentive and helpful.

Usually we have a great experience at this Outback, but tonight was a mixed bag. It started with a wonderful, friendly greeting from the hosts. It took a little while for the server to come to the table, and while she was taking our order, she redirected the bread that one of the hosts was bringing us to another table just as it was being set on our table. That felt inappropriate. The side salads we ordered were very good, and made correctly. From there, the good experiences stopped.

When the runner brought the food, he asked if everything looked good. I said mine looked good and turned to ask my partner if hers did, too. My partner's grilled chicken was heavily over-seasoned and blackened, which was unusual. When I turned back to tell the runner, he was gone.

The bacon on my Alice Springs Chicken was burned and dry, and there were very few mushrooms on it. The ramekin of honey mustard was only half full. My baked potato was undercooked. When we pointed out the problem with my partner's chicken, the server said she would put in a remake and ask that it not be seasoned. When it finally came out to the table, it was much better, but had not been made as a priority remake, just rung into the queue with everything else, so I was already almost done with my meal before my partner could eat her chicken.

After waiting for a long time with all of the plates from the meal (including the burned chicken) still on the table, the server said she would bring our check. We waited some more, and after about 10 minutes, she returned to the table and said, "Oh, I never even brought you the check." She then brought it and showed us where she had to ring the grilled chicken in a second time, but then comped one of them. So basically, we paid full price for a substandard meal, and at no point did a manager come to the table to ask about the plate of uneaten, burned food sitting in the middle of our table for the entire meal, despite mingling with the customers at the bar right next to our booth. There was no reason for the delays or for the manager not to visit the table, as we were there well before the evening rush.

This was a serious decline in food and service quality compared to what we normally get at this particular restaurant, and we will think twice about returning. In fact, we both said we wished we had gone to Texas Roadhouse after we were done...

So just wanted to say that our waiter was good the food and the cooks on the other hand was not. We ordered three different plates. The ribs and chicken, Victorian filet with coconut shrimp and sirloin with grilled shrimp. First the ribs and chicken. I ordered the ribs with no barbecue sauce along with the chicken. The chicken was fine but the ribs came out with sauce. Second, my wife ordered the Victorian filet medium. It came out well done and on my daughter's steak she ordered it medium well and it came out red as can be. So everything they had cooked, had to be sent back for the most part. They did get it back out pretty quick but still had to wait. When we received our check, they said that they had to comp some of our food, so we were fine with that. When we looked at the check it still showed 97+ dollars. I asked the waiter and he said something about the food, they don't add to the ticket because of it messing up the system or something, but there was no comp at all. We paid the ticket and still tipped but will not likely go back again. Way too much for mediocre food at best. Like I said his service was good until the check total and I don't think they did enough to try to earn our business back. Izzy was an absolute delight! From the moment we were seated, her friendly and upbeat attitude made us feel right at home. She was easy to talk to, had a great sense of humor, and made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. It's clear she genuinely cares about her guests and loves what she does. Friendly, professional, welcoming… Izzy is the real deal! We had visited for dinner on Friday the 23rd to celebrate my husband going into remission… (Cancer free!) Izzy was the perfect waitress for the job (and judging from the service, any job honestly)! From the moment our old butts hit the booth,nto the moment we walked out of the door, her shining personality and exceptional service made me and my husband remember that this is what people beat cancer for! Good food, and even better company! I could gush forever, or just give y’all the long and short of it… if anyone’s wondering if this location is worth visiting, it will be if you sit in Izzy S.’s section! Could not be thankful enough to have lucked out having her as our waitress on such a day… FIVE STARS FOR IZZY! Not to MENTION the FOOD!! Hit just the right spot. Always does at Outback!
