The most disappointing experience. In fact, the website seems like truly fraudulent advertising. I looked at it with my daughter months ago, and there were all kinds of photos of fossilized dinosaur skeletons, interesting illustrations and animatronic models. We took her for her 8th birthday today - she was so excited and has been counting down the days since November.
We got there and it turns out that there are no fossilized skeletons, no illustrations, and nothing truly interactive for the children. In fact, the photos on their website that they lead you to believe are from Pangaea are actually photos of other museums!! They force you to pay before you go in, but the windows are tinted and the exhibit entrances are covered by sheets. This means you don't even realize how bad it is until you are inside, after you have paid. The animatronic models are not that great - many are in disrepair (torn body parts, missing teeth) - and the entire place is about the size of our house (we don't have a big house). The placards that describe the dinosaurs don't actually contain any detailed information, and they're printed on computer paper, taped onto poles, half-ripped, and full of spelling errors! It took us approximately 20 minutes to walk through the entire place, and we had planned a four-hour block of time for the trip! It cost us over $100 and we were out in no time. We thought it would be like a museum. Instead, it felt like some cheesy roadside attraction that you regret paying for - "The World's Biggest Ball of Yarn!"
My daughter has a wonderful personality and was grateful that we even took her for her birthday. But after we prodded her about how she felt about the experience, she admitted that she was very sad because this was her big birthday event she had been planning for months and it wasn't anything like what was displayed on the website. What a sad disappointment this was. Do not make the same mistake and bring your kids here. My husband and I truly feel like we were scammed by deceptive...
Read moreTo sum it up: underwhelming/overpriced.
$20/person for general admission is ridiculous for what you get with that - walking through an exhibit with about as much square footage as a basketball court. The exhibits might be better for kids who can read, but they are minimally interactive for pre-readers (and I feel like this is the age that usually loves dinos). The lighting is pretty poor. The dinosaurs themselves look pretty cool and move a bit without being scary, my kids just weren't terribly impressed with them.
And then there is the irritating fact that doing extra activities costs even more - the only "free" activity is doing an "etch" with printer paper and crayon of a dinosaur. The other activities that cost extra include digging for dinosaurs in a sandbox full of rubber chips, breaking a dinosaur out of a clay/sand block of sorts, sluicing for gems and the arcade games. It isn't super clear on admission what the extra activities are and once inside, the division between the rest of the exhibit is poorly done. We witnessed several frustrated families and my boys even accidentally joined a pay-more activity without me realizing it because it was easy to just walk up to.
Staff is nice enough. The guy doing the fossil show was very enthusiastic.
There are no bathrooms inside the exhibit, they are outside and poorly maintained, especially difficult to navigate with a stroller (or any other assistive device, I would imagine).
I just don't know why anyone would pay as much as they charge to do this. We went on the POGO pass and even if we had the chance to do it again I wouldn't waste the time and money it took to drive up there. Just a major disappointment. The Natural History Museum in Mesa is far superior in what it has to offer and does so at a...
Read moreHuge dinosaur lovers! Pangea LAND of dinosaurs, umm yes please! Had huge expectations for this place.
Walked through it in 20 minutes. What in the ever loving hell did I just pay for? Walked through it again… sure everything is beautiful! The dinosaurs are amazing and they’re moving and it’s a cool vibe. The kids are enjoying it and then …..
Bam! It’s over again… You can literally go through this in 20 minutes.
And then everything else is an additional cost. You pay $20 a person. To walk through a 20 minute animatronic dinosaur exhibit. And then every task is extra , a $15 extra which…. Is shaping a dinosaur out of play dough, and digging a fossil out of dirt.
They do have a free etching table, but they have scrapes of crayons and no paper available….
When I did research of this place there were dinosaur rides, and inflatable Dino obstacle course and there was none of that.
They have QR codes you’re suppose to scan and if you do them all you earn a price. Tell me why I paid for 6 people to get in and one person gets a prize? That’s not fair to the kids who want a prize but are 4 years old and don’t have cellphones.
Oh and their prizes…? Mini coloring book or shark tooth? We are at a dinosaur exhibit people get with the program!
They have shows and guided tours, well we were told they are short staffed and there would be no show or guided tour,…. Like what did I pay for???
Extremely disappointed. I repeat dinosaurs are cool but this place is not worth your money .
Sadly.
Oooooh and bathrooms are on the outside of the building so if you’re toddler has to pee in the middle of the 20 minute walk take them back through the gift shop , pee and go back in through the gift shop !
No...
