NOT WORTH THE WAIT
The infamous White Castle (WC) finally made it to the west! Everyone was going crazy for the first month or a few months after its debut. People would wait 2+ hours for the so call slider. Police had to be present to direct traffic flow. CRAZY, BUT REALLY!?
I'm not from the midwest; therefore, I can't fully relate to those who grew up on this. Excuse my prejudice if I disagree with those who love this burger/slider.
I recalled WC from the Harold & Kumar movie. From then to now, everyone was raving about this place. When I first heard about WC I wanted and wished I had a taste, I even wanted to travel to the midwest and make pitstop for this. However, I'm am a patient person and waited for it come to me.
At last, first WC in AZ. After 5 or 6 months of waiting, I decided to make a second trip (1st time was not happening, long lines, both at the door and drive-thru). This time, drive-thru was reasonable, and the walk-in was "short", but still by the door.
Setting was nothing out of the ordinary. Kiosks were still out of order. You place your order at the counter. Food prep areas were similar to In-&-Out, BK, McD, etc.; however, it was a mess back there. Employees were working hard to get orders through in a timely manner, but they look as though they are working in a slave labor camp. Organization and customer service was not top notch, but hey, do you expect more for a this type of food service?
My first impression of the regular slider was subpar. There were more buns than the patty. For those carb counters, it's not for you. The buns were nice and soft though. Took a bite and felt like your eating bread, while trying to find the patty. Flavor didn't stand out much, it's "eh", in my opinion. Though I like the slider with cheese (extra cost). I didn't do my research so I'm guessing they have the patties sitting in a liquid bath? So, when you get your slider(s) some will have soggy buns.
The chicken ring was less impressive, the chicken and waffle was also less impressive. Fries? It's another "eh" opinion. Chocolate milkshake, icies, Mozzarella, and loaded fries were okay. Though, I question if the chicken in the chicken and waffle and the chicken rings were made from chicken meat....Hmmm? Another note, the chicken rings were a bit dried nothing special about it.
Overall, it's "eh" rating for me. I guess my intuition was right for me to wait it out. This was over hyped. Not worth waiting long lines or hours when you have better places. In-&In-&-out, 5 Guys, Smash burgers, etc. is equally acceptable if not better than WC. I know some will argue the slider is...a slider, it's not your regular burger (I agree) or the patty was prepped and cooked differently than other sliders or burgers (don't matter, it all go out the same way, if you know what I mean). I'm sorry, but it's not worth the price and wait time. However, if you're one of those that just wants to try it and say you had done it, then it's worth a "try it once and not go back".
Will I go back? No. Do I recommend it? No. Do I recommend to try it once? Yes. I can probably guess the hype will ease gradually and WC will be "just another burger joint".
One last note, WC create a lot of waste with their packaging. Every slider come with its own box container, it's not necessary. Could be it's...

So I ordered it 11:55 a.m. on the easy to use website. Well, I understand websites very well with my IT cloud experience. Very easy to use. I ordered a 2 specials of cheeseburgers for $15 dollars and to my delight they had my favorite jalapeño cheese. Well, I expected a long wait because I wanted to be at the Arizona Grand Opening for fun and it was but 4+ hour wait. I literally walked in and out with my order right and hot with safe frontline employee at 12:44 p.m. The time I ordered it online at 12:45. Then a friendly Hi and Bye.
Perfect timing!!!
Well, I am chef and in IT. This was the best experience most efficient service in my life. From ordering to payment and email confirmation. and the food. YUM. I have been blessed to have the best service and food in the world till this one.
Amazing Best Experience Ever. Thank you.
I needed a moral booster and I couldn't ask for more. Then I opened up the bag to a blue box with White castle on it. Open to find an awesome blue white castle mug.
Every morning while I read my bible I will be drinking coffee out of this priceless mug that I received as a special gift from white castle on Good Friday, 2020. And remember the best teamwork, service, and blessing during this hard time.
I understand and we will make it together as a country.
Thank you and God Bless Everyone around the World.

Read moreI recently visited this North Scottsdale location with a few friends. (Be reminded the last time I went to a White Castle was over four decades ago in Minneapolis, MN). Entering this location we were highly satisfied knowing we were about to experience a classic American Burger place. Okay, here's the very bottom line:The food took 17 minutes to prepare. (Mind you the restaurant wasn't busy yet). We did like the fact that this location is 24/7, and serves their delicious breakfast sliders of many varieties. Here's where the corporation needs to address some major issues(since I believe this store is owned by White Castle itself, and not a franchisee). When the counter person acts like they don't want to be bothered waiting on customers, it sends the entirely wrong message for the brand. (Be reminded I was well dressed). Secondly, when the napkin dispensers have no napkins, it sends the wrong signal about the store to the customer. When the menu has smoothies, but the store is out, it totally creates a terrible impression. When the respective self serve soda machine is out of certain choices, it limits the customer from having better beverage choices. When the food takes 17 minutes, and the sliders were not pipping hot, it really sends the wrong impression to the customer. Now I realize the manager Jesus has just come back to the store, and at the time, the staff was all reporting to work, but seriously, this establishment should have absolutely no reason for not getting five stars all across the board. Will we be back to this location? Probably not, as the Valley of the Sun has two other stores we want to try. Were we disappointed, yes. Were we satisfied? Barely. (And we spent about $50 for a party of three). To White Castle Corporation, address these issues, or they will continue to affect your bottom line...
