I was looking forward to taking up a new hobby and decided this was going to be a great experience. I also read online that they offered a “work study” and thought it be great to be able to pay for my classes that way and learn more about clay, ect. Maxine (owner) and I exchanged emails and agreed on a specific day to start my work study. I show up only to find out she was gone and had forgot about our planned date. It didn’t brother me that much, after exchanging text messages we agreed on a different day (today) . I show up on time to meet Maxine, she gave me a maybe 2 min run down on what I was going to do; Mixing glaze. She was made aware this was my first time ever doing this, and was rude and condescending when I asked questions. She made it seem like I should already know or that it was obvious. I understand it might be obvious to her since she’s been working with clay her whole life but not as obvious to someone who has never touched clay. After leaving me alone for almost 2 hours , she was shocked that I was still on my first bucket of glaze and that it should have only taken me apparently 30 minutes. She tries to be nice but it comes out flat rude. I guess there was a list of things she wanted me to do and was annoyed I had only completed one task. Lol. Again after spending 2 minutes (if that) explaining what I was supposed to do. I’m nice to my elders so I didn’t say much. But as a health care professional who works with all different personalities it honestly doesn’t take much to be a nice and Maxine is not. I hope she reads this and I hope she does better with the next work study or assign they work with someone willing to properly show them what to do. After completing 2 buckets I left , so she got 3 hours of free work because I do not plan on taking classes there , I will look else where and would rather pay than be treated like I was today. Do better Maxine ! Not...
Read moreI recently had the most wonderful experience at the local pottery co-op with my son, who had unfortunately broken his leg. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and understanding, making us feel right at home despite the circumstances.
Maxine went above and beyond to accommodate my son's injury, ensuring he was comfortable and able to participate in the pottery-making process. She was kind, and incredibly supportive, turning what could have been a challenging situation into a truly special and memorable experience.
Thanks to the pottery co-op's thoughtfulness and exceptional service, we were able to create beautiful pottery pieces together. This experience will always hold a special place in our hearts. I highly recommend this welcoming and inclusive establishment to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable...
Read moreI have been with the clay co op for a year now and it has been fantastic! I first started by taking a beginner wheel and hand building class.Going to my first class I was nervous cause I never done ceramics but everyone there is so motivating and kind. I learn to definitely be patient with the process. I recommend getting studio time when taking a class so you can come in and finish your pieces. Studio time is also fun cause you can either zone out to yourself listening to music and everyone respects that or join in on the conversation. They also offer Raku classes that are so much fun to be apart of. Working with fire is fundamental and to see the out come is unbelievable. I definitely recommend Tucson Clay Co Op if you want a great...
