We camped at Pine Creek Campground. This place has a lot of shades and trees help creating privacy between campsites which is a huge plus, compared to many other campgrounds nearby SLC area. This makes the site a bit cooler. We went during the Independence day and it was still quite cold at night. They have a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Then tent pad was enough to fit 2 4-to-6-person tents next to each other (we were lucky because I have seen other camp sites which have smaller tent pad and definitely won’t fit our two tents. There is running water at the site which is a huge plus for cleaning. The campsite was clean and there is a flush toilet nearby which was also clean. There was no shower but was ok for us since we only stayed for a night. There are several small trails that I can walk my two small pups. No bugs or anything that bothered us while we were there. The only downside (for someone; but could be a plus for others) is that there is no phone signal. I should have downloaded musics before going! We got lost on the way to the campsite because there was no clear sign at the state park’s entrance (something to improve there—add directions sign please). There were two forks: go straight or turn right. We decided to go straight but ended up on dirt road going up the mountain. Fortunately, we decided to tun around to find the phone signal so we can go to “Pine Creek Campsite” rather than just “Wasatch Mountain State Park”. Once we made the right (literally) turn, everything was good onward—there were signs to get there. Many nice houses and good scenery to see on the ride. Will definitely comeback as this goes down as my new...
Read moreVery nice place to stay. There are lots of great hikes and walks. There are three camp areas - the lower level is next to the golf course, which is nice, but less trees and privacy. There is also an inner loop there for group camping which can be noisy. The middle loop is for RVs and is in the trees with lots of privacy. But it is a TIGHT fit. My Travato is only like 20 feet long and it was tight for me. There are big boulders for decoration so be very careful backing up. Some sites aren't as level. But lots of privacy (less so around the corner) and trees. The upper level is tent camping only but I did see people with camping vans and trucks up there. A little noisier (always the case with tent camping) but lots of privacy. Good clean bathrooms. The showers had removable wands which is great for cleaning the nether regions and had a changing area that stayed dry and hooks for hanging things. Lots of hikes and walks that run along side the camping areas. Nature loop that I highly recommend that starts right by the tent camping area. SIgnage to the camping area is awful. when you get the the main entrance for the Park, just keep going up the hill. You don't check in at the main entrance. About a mile or so up the hill is the entrance to camping. It is on the left but it is recessed so super easy to miss until you pass it. If you have a rig that is hard to turn around, just go extra slow so you don't miss...

For those that can see a trend in my travels, we go to Utah quite a bit as we are building a house and should be Utah residents soon.
In anticipation of moving, we're starting to explore different walking/hiking paths around the area so that we can intelligently inform our guests on things to do in the area.
There's a $10/day-use fee to park in the parking lot. Grab an envelope, fill out the information, rip the tab off, display the tab in your dashboard, and drop the envelope with the $10 into the slot.
The information building is staffed with very helpful and friendly folks to help you find maps to the paths and to choose a path that is good for you.
We chose the Beginner path which was mostly along the road overlooking the golf course next door.
The views are completely worth the walk and the path is very nicely maintained, albeit the recent snow runoff has done a number on the paths, but that seems to be for the most part, under control.
The Beginner path ends at the golf course and a public restroom for your convenience. There is only slight elevation changes on this path and it's very manageable. Very enjoyable path.
As we visit more, we'll do Moderate, Intermediate and then Difficult paths and I will update the review - this is a fantastic location to view the valley and the mountains of Midway and Heber City. Cannot...
