This is our second time for our family staying at these resorts. We're currently in the water park and having a rough experience. A lot of money was paid for us to be embarrassed immediately upon entering. The resort requires wristbands to enter the park, not a big issue. We didn't want to wear wrist bands for 9 days so we put them in our lanyards and headed to the water park. We show our wrist bands upon entry and they let us know we will need to put them on, other than the younger kids. We agree and go sit at the tables located right by entry, set our things down and begine putting our wrist bands on. As we are doing so the manager (Melissa) comes up to us (while we're putting wrist bands on) and says "you all need to put on your wrist bands or leave!" loudly! I'm taken aback because I had just snapped on my wrist bands, and the other 3 that didn't have them on were in the middle of doing so, so we assumed she must be talking about the smaller kids with us we said "we talked to the front desk and they said they we could keep those on us, the rest of us are putting them on" she continues to raise her voice saying "I'm not talking about the small kids, I'm the manager and you need to put the wrist bands on" my brother said "we got it, we're putting them on" and she CONTINUED to yell! As if we were arguing with her. "Put the wrist bands on or leave" and again my brother says "we got it, thank you!" She finally walks off and we finish putting the wrist bands on. The whole time she, and her crew, are staring at us and walking around us. I realize no one has given me life jackets for my kids so I send my nephew to get them, they call "backup" as if we are a threat and bring a big guy to address my nephew! Then, after we all swimming and my sister and brother in law are sitting at the bench they send someone again to check for wrist bands. They have made us EXTREMELY uncomfortable and I don't think customer service is taking that seriously. Now, we're one of about 4 black families in the park and, I'm not sure if it's about race but I have serious doubts any white families encountered this treatment. They continued to to walk around us and stare us down. Management needs to learn DEESCALATION tactics. That's the first step to being a good manager. And y'all should check and see that she's not using her racist...
Read moreWater park management sucks. Bill, in particular, is unreasonable, or entirely not empowered as a real manager, which means his boss is a bad manager. It’s 130 in the afternoon and over half of the cabanas are empty. I asked to rent and he said they’re pre-reserved, and the people haven’t showed up yet. I offered to rent one and vacate it quickly in the unlikely event all 7+ people show up. The other guy I asked before talking to the manager said not all had paid. So they’re holding cabanas for no-shows who also didn’t pay for them. Talk about bad business and bad service. Recommendations for management:
Empower your managers to use their brain
If they’re empowered, then require them to use their brain
Set a time limit for no-shows so they lose their spot if they don’t show up, more stringent for those who didn’t pre-pay versus those who did
Call the no-shows to see if they’re coming, so if not, others who did show up can use the cabanas
*Updated to reflect that Bill’s boss, Melissa, was even more unreasonable than Bill. The concept you lose your place even if you paid is a concept Melissa couldn’t even comprehend. And the idea to call people now to see if they’re still coming left her nonplussed. She was super combative, as was Bill, even though I was calm, articulate, and objective.
**Updated again to reflect Bill & Melissa were not polite, rather combative, and not interested in a solution. The resort is making excuses instead of solving a problem, and ignored my suggestions in their reply. I consider their response a non-answer, rather a canned response to point fingers and miss a...
