Dr. Joe is amazing! I was in severe upper back/shoulder pain and went to see Dr. Joe. I am a person who values convenience and efficiency, which was the first thing I noticed when I was looking for an acupuncturist (besides the other stellar reviews), the convenience of scheduling via his website is amazing! I was able to schedule a same day appointment (after I realized I scheduled my original appointment a week later than the day I was on my way to his office) for cupping and full body traditional acupuncture. Cupping was new to me, and please please please, you HAVE to try it (did you know the air in the cups smells differently after you have been cupped? and the individual cups of air can also smell differently?). Especially if you have ever wondered what its like to get a hug from an octopus. I have heard a lot of people complain about bruising with cupping in general, as someone who bruises extremely easily, I was shocked when the next day I only noticed a few faint cup outlines, and if I am being honest a bit disappointed. During the inserting of the acupuncture needles I barely felt anything, just a little sting. After my transformation into a pin cushion, Dr. Joe put on soothing natural sounds, turned down the lights and left the room. Not only did this treatment make my pain go from a 8-0, but it was also calming and soothing. I have been pain free for 3 weeks from my first session! I am very excited to go back for my next session, and am still working on convincing my husband I need to try his cosmetic acupuncture. There are few other acupuncturists I would see in the state of Tennessee, let alone the Nashville suburbs...

If you are thinking about acupuncture, especially if it is your first time, go to True Acupuncture. To say I feel fortunate to be treated by Dr. Joe would be an understatement. I have adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) and if you know what it is you know it is not fun. And it seems to be a mystery to the medical profession - how to treat it, best methods, what works and what doesn't, what causes it, how long it lasts, are just some of the unanswered questions about frozen shoulder. So when I began to think about finding an acupuncturist in the area, I was very reluctant. I have had the same condition on the other shoulder 10 years ago and went through a lot.

My first visit with Dr. Joe I could tell he was very focused and present. He asked all the right questions and listened attentively even though I am sure he does this all day long. Subsequent visits have been very productive and I always leave feeling better. Today especially I feel more progress in opening up my shoulder.

It is clear Dr. Joe is doing exactly what he was born to do. He understands the body and genuinely wants to heal. He constantly checks to make sure I am comfortable. The office is very clean and spacious. His appointment system is flawless. I cannot recommend Dr. Joe more. My guess is he is the best in his profession. The name True Acupuncture and Wellness describes Dr. Joe's practice perfectly.

I came to Dr Joe for my low cortisol. Chemo had wrecked my adrenal glands, which prevented my body from making its own cortisol. It can be a dangerous condition and I had to take steroids for two years to prevent issues it could cause. The constant steroids then affected my blood sugar and I'm now diabetic.

After only 6 treatments, my adrenal glands are awake and producing the hormones they're supposed to. In September 2023, my cortisol level was 4.8 (below normal). As of December 2023, my cortisol is now 7.4 (normal range), all while reducing my steroids.

Aside from healing my adrenal glands, I have much more energy than I've had in the last 2.5 yrs since starting chemo in 2021. I am also getting relief from my hot flashes. I was having as many as 20-30 a day while on 2 medications for it. The hot flashes are greatly reduced and I'm hoping I'll be able to drop the 2 meds soon.

In talking with Dr Joe, we're now going to work on my tachycardia, which I've had all my life, neuropathy from chemo, bladder issues and anxiety, amongst other things.

I have been recommending others to Dr Joe. He cares, he's knowledgeable, his staff is so friendly and kind. He also has Dr Alex in the practice and she can help with fertility and digestive issues and more.

Society usually saves acupuncture for last; trying all the medicines first. I wish I'd made an appointment years ago, but I'm glad...
