Again, we have stayed many times at this hotel over the last 3 months. We traveled from Michigan to Tennessee.
We stayed one night, then left a night and came back for 2 nights and then stayed an additional 2 days because of bad weather. We were in town visiting my elderly mom and sister.
We had 3 separate reservations, we really were not what I would consider an extended stay family. On February 18th, we were cleaning our room and packing up to leave the next day and I had set some closed garbage bags from our room outside and to the side of my door as I have done at every hotel I stay at. I do not appreciate keeping garbage in my room if we don't have to. Anyway, one of the staff members walked past my room as I went to put a small bag outside my room next to maybe 3-4 other small closed plastic bags of garbage. We cleaned all the garbage cans up in the room so a maid would not have to touch our garbage. Since Covid most hotels either require or appreciate this. I try to clean my room up as much as possible so the maid doesn't have a lot to do when we leave. This staff stopped me and asked me if I do where the dumpster was. She said I could at least empty my own garbage. She said she was understaffed and stressed out and I should know better than to put my garbage outside my room, she said this in a very rude and demeaning manner. Honestly, if she would have asked me nicely I would have no problem helping out. I told her I will empty it if I could when we leave. Maybe an hour later, as we were finishing up, I went to place another small bag of garbage outside the door and she was there again. Again, in a rude manner, she said I took care of it for you. I had another little bag of closed garbage and I said would you mind putting this with the others. Again, she asked me if I knew where the dumpster was. I said yes I know where it is. In fact, I took a picture of it, the cover of the dumpster was buried in snow. I told her, you to know, I would not mind helping but I didn't appreciate her being so rude to me. She insinuated I was being disrespectful for not taking my own garbage out. How would we ever know she was understaffed, trying to do a lot by herself, and expected us to take our own garbage out. She told me it's about respect and that I was being disrespectful, I told her she was. I told her that I paid a lot of money to stay there. She then told me that I was considered an extended stay person and I should be taking my own garbage out for sure. I do not believe I was an extended stay and again, never ever was I told that I was expected to take my own garbage to the dumpster at all and especially with a snow storm going on. I told her she's right, it is about respect and she was not being respectful or professional at all. She apologized in a very nonapologetic way, in a very sarcastic way as a matter of fact. She upset me and my children that were overhearing the heated conversation.
My children thought this lady was way out of line and they are 12 and 13 years old. I believe she was. I understand that the hotel may have been understaffed and she may have to do more than she can handle, but that's not our fault. That's the hotel's fault and her fault for putting up with it. I hate to say we may not stay at this hotel ever again because of this experience. I had enjoyed our stays in the past but this one stay was very upsetting and after spending a lot of money over the last 3 months to stay at this hotel I feel this staff member who was also outside on multiple occasions smoking cigarettes changed my feelings about ever...
Read moreThe Candlewood in Franklin went above and beyond all of my expectations. It is nearly impossible to find a hotel that is pet friendly, let alone a hotel that is accommodating to your pet. We requested a bottom floor near a door so we could easily take him out, and that is exactly what we got. To all the pet parents, this hotel is perfect. They have a designated dog walking area equipped with doggie bags and a trash bin. They have magnets that you can place on the outside of the door the let others know you have a “pet roommate”, and I thought that was really neat. Special little touches like that, I’ve never seen before. For the usual guest, this hotel will blow your mind, too. They offer FREE laundry! Bring your own laundry supplies or buy them at the desk. Forgot something? No problem. They have a wall cabinet FULL of supplies from hair straighteners, air fryers, large coffee pot, a tool set, and even games! The lobby has a pool table and another table game (not sure what it was, but it looked fun!). The rooms are clean, fluffy comforter and even a kitchen with a stovetop, dishwasher, full sized refrigerator and all the kitchen equipment you could need (pots, pans, spatula, plates, etc.) The staff we dealt with was nothing short of AMAZING. I wish I got the name of the young man at the front desk because he was spectacular and was there for us, ready to help with a smile on his face. The check in/check out process was smooth and seamless. I never heard a single noise; not from the road or other guests. The hotel is convenient to restaurants, gas stations and the interstate. My only issue was the rooms didn’t have enough ventilation; we cooked breakfast in our room and the window didn’t open so the smell stayed in the room. If you’re heading to Franklin Tennessee, stay here!! You...
Read moreThis is a basic hotel room suite. The building is new (2 yrs old, I think?) so the kitchenette is very modern. The recliner is comfortable, and, my best compliment to this room is the SHELVING and countertop space. More than we need - and we need a lot because I come with tons of medical supplies everywhere I go.
I should mention this suite is handicap accessible. I asked for a walk-in shower, and was told on the phone when I made the reservation that I would have a specific room number on the second floor - one that had this shower. We got here and we were assigned a room on the 3rd floor with a bathtub. I have trouble lifting one leg so this was problematic. I didn't realize it until my husband had already brought everything up and in the room.
There is no smell of smoke or dust or animals. The carpets are not stained.
My big criticism is the bathroom. Pitiful! The toilet seat is loose and about to fall off. The toilet itself has a slow leak so it resets and refills the back tank maybe twice an hour. The toilet literally looks like it is 10 years old, compared to the suite itself, which looks fresh and new. The bathroom in general is just not impressive.
The other criticism is, although there are two queen beds, one is about 6 inches from the AC. In order to keep the room comfortable (including the bathroom), it was running a lot. Too cold to sleep beside! Very sad to say my husband and I each slept in one of the beds instead of together because we both needed a nightstand and because of the AC being too cold to sleep directly beside!
I would probably come back - I think. But if I walked into my room next time and saw a bathtub, I would go ask for a new room. You...
