J & H Dinettes & Upholstery, Inc — Attraction in Freehold

If you value your time and money, don’t go here. While the quality of their work was nice, the customer service hardly exists. I wanted to support a local business and have a family chair reupholstered. This would cost more than my brand new couch. I thought the price was excessive but it was a family item so I proceeded anyway. I was told the chair would be ready in 6-8 weeks. Perfect, I though, since 8 weeks would be the week before Christmas and my family can see it. 8 weeks came and went as did the holidays, and still no word on my chair. I called on week 12 (4 weeks — an entire month after the quoted finish time) to follow up on the status. I was told the chair was half done. On week 13 I called again as I had not heard anything. I asked to leave a message for the owner to have him call me back. Two days go by and he doesn’t call. I went in person to get my chair and explained my dissatisfaction with their lack of communication and lack of empathy for being 5 weeks late. The owner’s response: We were busy. Sorry. (Shrugging it off, wanting to move on) — That attitude is just not acceptable to me. I could have bought multiple new chairs for the price of this one project, but I trusted and supported a local business that clearly doesn’t value their customers. I purchased a chair for my kitchen from J& H dinettes. It was made from Tempo Industries. I had originally purchased 3 chairs and was missing a 4th chair. Had stopped by a few places and inquired. Not only did J&H match the color perfect but the price that they gave me was anywhere between $100 and $200 less then 3 other stores. I will not mention other stores @ this point but it is recommended highly that you shop around for what you are looking for. Paying that kind of extra $$$ for a single chair was ridiculous. J&H manufactured a dining room table for me from the suggestions of what I was looking for after visiting ALL the other commercial furniture stores around. To say the least, the table exceeded my expectations and I receive many compliments. The measurements are spot on going with his recommendations as to the size that would work perfectly with my dining room space.
