Been coming here since it opened.
The good: Price is lowest in town. They have most of the equipment you could want. Decent amenities for basic membership and often premium ones are available for free during special events. Most of the staff is friendly. Location is convenient and central to most of Gainesville. Always Open. Relatively well cleaned, ambient temperature is always pleasant. Majority of lost items get returned to lost and found.
The bad: wait times can be very long even during non peak hours. No reasonable logistic system in place for folks waiting on equipment (e.g. no designated place to form a line for platforms or benches, which are frequently taken up, thus resulting in a supposed "first come first served" free for all which rewards whomever randomly walks up and claims the equipment first despite other folks having been waiting. This is a simple problem to fix.) Two sets of headphones left in my locker were not returned to lost and found. They randomly lock one of the doors frequently, often trying to enter the door closest to where you arrive becomes a futile exercise in frustration. Majority college age folks who don't tend to respect basic gym etiquette (But no lingering naked old men in locker room like GHFC) Clearly stated rules such as number of people allowed in the sauna at once or wearing a shirt on the gym floor are not enforced. Many of the staff members can be apathetic or even rude when responding to justified criticism regarding major issues. Several times I've made appointments with them over the phone only to come in and have no record of them being made when I get there, which is a frustrating waste of time. Wear and tear on equipment is pretty severe, resulting in required maintenance which often does not get done promptly. For example sauna was out of commission for over a month on numerous occasions. Most recently when it was repaired it's so hot that you can't even sit in there for more than 5 minutes or without your water bottle melting. The hot water in the showers gets tepid at best on a good day, and is frequently just cold. Most of the time the soap is not filled. Currently of the three non handicapped shower stalls only one has a door which is able to remain closed. They frequently advertise on Facebook for open house events where they encourage you to "bring a friend" but fail to state if the person has ever been a guest before they can never be a guest a second time. Resulting in an embarrassing scenario where you convince your friend to come work out with you, only to be turned away when you arrive, forcing both of you to abandon the workout you had to get psyched up and geared up for, which is frustrating to the point of resentment.
The Ugly: Absolutely unacceptable issues such as the water fountain currently being so worn out it is only able to dispense about 10 Oz of water per minute. As the only source of water lines can form of up to a dozen people, making acheiving basic hydration take up a significant portion of precious gym time. I've asked when this would be remedied and been repeatedly given estimated completion dates weeks in the future, only for those assurances to not be met. The locks on the bathroom stalls are constantly broken or completely missing, making for a very awkward experience trying to go to the bathroom in privacy. A mysterious charge appeared on my bill, and while this was eventually corrected the amount of time and effort it required on my part to ensure it was corrected was far beyond what one could simply call burdensome. Can't imagine how bad canceling must be
Please don't respond to this review with some generic "Sorry to let you down/We'll Strive to do better" cut abd paste reply from the owner. It feels pandering to put sincere effort into a detailed criticism only to be met with such a lame pre-written one sentence response. Read moreMembership Cancellation and Refund Request
I am writing to formally request the cancellation of my membership with Crunch Fitness and a full refund of my annual fee. My decision stems from the consistently poor customer service I have experienced, which has been extremely disappointing.
I previously filed a complaint and left a Google review regarding the issues I encountered. In response, the General Manager, Tori, left me a voicemail. When I returned her call two days later, she was unavailable, so I left my contact information with a representative. Despite this, Tori only called back two weeks later, leaving another voicemail. Unfortunately, due to the holidays and travel, I was unable to respond until approximately two weeks later.
When I called again, I was told Tori was in a meeting—an explanation I had heard multiple times before. I asked the representative to take my contact information again, but he dismissively stated it was "pointless" because she rarely returns calls and suggested I email her instead. When I requested to speak to the Assistant General Manager, I was told "he was busy with a customer and would not take my call and tell him to have me email them."
After insisting, I was finally transferred to the Assistant General Manager, Detron. He answered the call with an annoyed tone, failing to introduce himself properly. I had to ask who I was speaking with, to which he responded curtly. When I shared my concerns about the poor service and inability to get in touch with management, his response was dismissive, stating he would "coach" the representative.
Throughout this process, I have felt ignored and undervalued as a customer. The lack of professionalism, dismissive attitudes, and poor communication from both representatives and management have made this the worst gym experience I’ve ever had.
As someone who manages state facilities and understands the importance of providing exceptional customer service, I am appalled by how I have been treated. I hope Crunch Fitness will take my feedback seriously and use it to improve their customer service standards.
Please process my membership cancellation and provide a full refund of my annual fee promptly. I look forward to receiving confirmation of this request.
Subject: Concern About Facility Cleanliness and Customer Service
Dear Crunch Fitness Management,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding the condition and service at your facility. I have been a member since August 10, 2024, and chose Crunch Fitness because of its 24/7 availability and competitive pricing. However, my experience so far has been disappointing due to the following issues: Cleanliness: • The women’s restroom is consistently filthy and not maintained to an acceptable standard. • There is often a shortage of cleaning spray and paper towels for the machines, making it difficult to sanitize equipment before and after use. Staff Engagement: • Fitness trainers seem reluctant to assist customers who are not enrolled in personal training sessions. • While there appears to be adequate staffing, employees are often standing around instead of ensuring the facility is clean and supplies are restocked.
As a paying member, I expect a clean and well-maintained gym environment, as well as professional and helpful staff. These issues not only compromise the quality of the facility but also the overall customer experience.
I strongly encourage your team to address these concerns promptly. Ensuring that restrooms and gym areas are regularly cleaned, supplies are consistently available, and staff are trained to assist all members would go a long way in improving the gym environment.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to seeing improvements...
Read moreThey shouldn't let you sign up online. I went online and looked at the different plans that they offered, comparing to see which would be best. I wanted a "no contract" plan because I'm very used to working out with my own equipment and not in the public setting. I see the highest cost plan, that it's a no contract plan and that it allows you to bring a guest. I signed up for that one and attempted to go after work one day. Parking lot was full, gym was full, people were waiting to use equipment despite how big the place was. So I go in, speak to someone, they set me up with a fob, I attempt to workout but only get through 2 exercises before I'd be waiting. I ask if early early morning is better, I'm told yes and that weekends aren't as bad either. I leave, come back around 4:30 the next morning. It's not packed, there's about 40 people in there but not uncomfortable by any means. But the time I'm leaving though, the place is packed. Anyways, things happen at work, I'm having to spend more time there and driving out of the way to go to the gym isn't working any more. It's been about a month and a half so I go online looking to cancel. Can't find a way online despite seeing that if you sign up online, you can maybe cancel online as well. So I call, they tell me I either have to come in or write a letter (that's all they say). I'll I don't make it in for for over a week (I signed up Jan 5th, make it in March 6th so 2 months). They tell me I'm giving them 30 days notice so I'll be charged another month on my no contract plan AND I'm responsible for the $60 annual fee before I cancel. The manager tries to give me some awful analogy about if you wreck your car you still have to pay for it, in which I reply I would get a new one and roll the overage into a new loan if gap insurance didn't cover it but I don't know how wrecking a car is anything like deciding you don't want a gym membership anymore...but okay. The first guy I talked to said he always tells people who sign up about the stipulations of quitting but I went in and spoke to people right after I signed up but no one found that info important enough to tell me. I go looking online and find that the annual fee hits about 3 months after sign-up. They got me with the annual fee on that same day, 2 months in. They argued with me when I said it had been exactly 2 months so I shouldn't get charged another month and they argued that I must have signed up in Dec when I said I'd already been charged an annual fee. The gym isn't bad, there's a good variety of equipment.. but it's clear they aren't using member's annual fees for maintenance. Many of the treadmills and stair climbers are down as well some other arm/leg focused equipment right past the desk. Moral of the story, go in and do a tour and find out exactly what you're...
