Going into the planetarium I was a little bit skeptical because I believed that it would be an old fashioned projector and the shows would be outdated and boring. However I was wrong. The projection system is state of the art and even being upgraded today. The shows are interesting and up to date on all plantary/galaxy knowledge. I personally recommend the one on Black Holes. It is a perfect introduction to the subject.

Best seats are definitely center - back.Great production. Very comfortable. The staff are friendly and entertaining. If you need to park in a handicapped spot, park at the police station. The walk to the entrance is quick.

The Planetarium was very hard to find on the Santa Fe campus. It took us about 20 minutes to find it and we were practically on top of it. It was hidden in the middle of other buildings. Even the signs on the campus weren't very good. We were 2 minutes late and after begging and pleading we were finally let in to the scheduled show along with 2 other people who also got lost as we all drove up to Gainesville from Ocala to see this show. The Eclipse show was pretty good and I would have been very disappointed if we missed it. I thank them very much for letting us in as they have rules about late comers. It would have been nice if there were some signs pointing to the Planetarium or at least some signs in the parking lot to let us know it was there. There was no way you could tell from the parking lot that the...

This was the surprise of the trip! We thought we had missed out on the opportunity to visit because they were closed for spring break when they normally would have had an event on that Saturday. While we were visiting the geology dept. I mentioned to my wife we should check and see if they had any unannounced shows because my son has been begging to go to a planetarium. We ran into the director and began chatting. After our conversation, he told us to hang out and after the field trip group left, he would give us the opportunity to see the show! It was so cool and such a cute show. We are forever grateful for the kindness shown to us that day. Getting to see the awe and wonder in my little boy's eyes and heart was something I will forever...

This is one of our favorite things to do on an evening, hot afternoon, or even date night. Great shows for kids, (Space 360, with famous rollercoasters or rides put on different planets...also teaches you about the atmosphere and other fun facts with each planet) and the music shows are relaxing and take you to another world. For our kid's birthdays, we LOVE to bring them to the star shows, where they can see the exact sky map of the moment they were born. All of our children, even the teenagers, have loved this and been amazed. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The price can't be beat. Check the website for show schedules, and...as the man there will tell you, keep...
