Compact but great collection of minerals. There’s no admission fee. If you like rocks, it’s the place! For a homeschool field trip, plan 30-60 minutes. Kids were mesmerized by the displays, especially the ones where you can turn lights on and off to see the minerals glowing.

How does this place have no reviews? This building holds an absolutely stunning and fantastic display of everything there is to know about minerals, rocks, fossils, and even cut stones. The man who runs the whole thing, Dave, is a wealth of knowledge immeasurable and irreplaceable. He gave my girlfriend and I a guided tour through his exhibits and he knew everything there is to know. The displays are well put together and very interesting and for a rock nerd like myself, it was a hidden gem (no pun intended). This place NEEDS to be on your list of mineral/rock museums to check out if you’re in Gainesville. No admission fee either, but be sure to sign the guest book, it helps keep the...
