5-Star Review for the Florida Museum of Natural History – UF Gainesville I had an amazing experience at the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville! The Earth Science exhibits were incredibly well-designed, engaging, and packed with fascinating information. From the interactive displays on Florida’s geological history to the stunning mineral and fossil collections, every part of the exhibit was both educational and entertaining. The museum does a fantastic job of making complex topics accessible to visitors of all ages. I especially appreciated the hands-on sections that let you explore different types of rocks and learn about the forces that shape our planet. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to answer any questions. Whether you’re a science enthusiast or just looking for a fun and educational way to spend the day, this museum is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Compact but great collection of minerals. There’s no admission fee. If you like rocks, it’s the place! For a homeschool field trip, plan 30-60 minutes. Kids were mesmerized by the displays, especially the ones where you can turn lights on and off to see the minerals glowing.

How does this place have no reviews? This building holds an absolutely stunning and fantastic display of everything there is to know about minerals, rocks, fossils, and even cut stones. The man who runs the whole thing, Dave, is a wealth of knowledge immeasurable and irreplaceable. He gave my girlfriend and I a guided tour through his exhibits and he knew everything there is to know. The displays are well put together and very interesting and for a rock nerd like myself, it was a hidden gem (no pun intended). This place NEEDS to be on your list of mineral/rock museums to check out if you’re in Gainesville. No admission fee either, but be sure to sign the guest book, it helps keep the...

Neat , small, place, with great stuff , with limited parking at times! They have not studied Mt Helen, to correct much of their assumptions n dating. Carbon Dating is sooooo fallible!,, Do U know that items from Mt. Saint Helen come up on dating as 100z if not millions of yrs old?? But they were created n, that happened in 1981!! Welllll, who wants, or has the guts to, correct faulty assumptions. // It is a fun, free...
