I bought 2 rc trucks from here. The first was a losi mini 8 for my son, now we are beginners in this hobby but I know that these vehicles do break. That being said we bought the losi mini 8 with a brushless motor that he reassured could handle a 3s lipo battery. So bought a 3s battery from him the motor burned up on the first run. Call him up tells me to bring it up and see what’s going on. Literally had this truck for a day. So bring the truck back up the shop which is 45 minutes away for me. Tells me the truck will be done on this day. Come back the day I was told to, had the motor but not installed it yet. I tell him well my wife and I will go grab lunch and come back says that will give him enough time to install it. Give the guy 2 hours come back say ohh they sent me the wrong motor, going to be a few more days. Ok no problem fine. Well I’m in the market for one for me, so I buy 500 dollar truck while I’m there. Even though he could have called me during lunch and tell me it wasn’t going to be ready that way I didn’t sit in town for hours. But nonetheless I bought another truck while I was there. Come back week later pick the truck which by the way I was charged for. But no problem didn’t say a word. Literally get home run it for 10 mins then the vehicle breaks none of the wheels would go. Call dealer tells me there’s nothing he can do call the manufacturer. I’m aggravated by this time call them basically on hold for 20 mins, Then just for them to tell me there’s nothing they can do take it back to the dealer. I could have easily bought both vehicles offline even cheaper. But I like to buy locally also have accountability from the dealer. I call the dealer back after the 40 minute conversation with losi. Tell him dude these guys didn’t want to help me, obviously I got a lemon I understand stuff happens but make this right I spent 1000 bucks for basically one 500 dollar car. Guy tells me come back and I’ll see what I can do. Like bud that’s not good enough to far of a drive, can you make this right I wanna know before I make the drive because heck last time still had to come out of my own pocket for the repairs. Couldn’t give me anything other then bring up here. Really all I wanted to hear from the guy is I’ll fix it and make it right. But all I got was uncertainty. This guy does not stand behind this product. Pushes me off to the manufacture, I bought from a dealer so I wouldn’t have to deal with that. Again I know these are hobby trucks and they break no problem there, I am more than understanding, I’ve had trucks similar to these and fixed them no expert by any means but know that they do break. But first run burnt motor on a brushless motor tells me because I had the spur gear too tight. I didn’t in stall the spur gear it was that way when I bought it. But still paid out of my pocket. Now second runs gears are probably mostly likely stripped. Literally all the guy had to say is I’ll make it right, but never did. I’m not going to bring it all the way back to be charge to fix it. When I can do it myself without the drive time. That’s all! Ok in this man response down below he’s says it’s funny how people can be sweet at first, yeah bud I am a nice. to be totally honest I have never given a bad review on anyone because I know how devastating it can be to a business. I was very patient but enough was enough I’m not driving another hour and a half out my day to drop it off and then repeat that process all over another day. I didn’t demand my money back either but did suggest it would be nice being that you said losi wouldn’t exchange this brand new POS that spent more time with you then the total of 30 minute drive time I had on it. Why should I be the phone manufacturer in the first place I BOUGHT IT FROM YOU. You deal with them. Please name one specific threat I made to you. Yes I did want a exchange or money back. Hell I even told You i would pay little more for a upgraded model if they wouldn’t exchange that one. I think At the end of the day I had right to be upset. Especially after...
Read moreFirst I love supporting my local Hobby store. The gentleman is very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I support this business because I know how tough it is to compete in today's online environment. I have purchased two $400 slashes, LiPo batteries, charger, various parts, etc to at least the tune of a $1,200 plus send him business from people I meet at the park and even have handed out his business cards to parents and their children to help drive business to him. (I legit have done this from the goodness if my heart because I want him to succeed and not be another statistic like other hobby stores. I know of at least one person that has bought a rustler vxl because of me.)
That being said, unless something has changed within the last month or so of being there, the track has always been free to use to practice / play around unless it was a race day or some event was being held? At least this used to be the case. Anyway, it was to my surprise after buying parts and asking him to use his track that there was a 10$ charge this time.
While I appreciate the man trying to make a living, $10 dollars for me to play with my truck for the one battery pack I own doesn't make financial sense (No rentals needed). As it is, when I eventually ram my rc into his pillars and break something, I will purchase the parts I broke from him at his shop.
Seems to be a good rotating business model to me. Let people break their stuff on your track so they will purchase parts from you. I was only interested in running the one battery pack I have dry which would be about 30 minutes of entertainment, but I can not justify spending $10 for half an hour (Especially if I became a repeating track customer). For $13.69 can you watch Aqua-man, a two hour and twenty five minute long movie ($2.74 every 30 mins). But at the end of the day if that is what the gentleman needs to charge to keep the doors open, then it is what it is.
I am probably ignorant if their are other pricing options, and if that is the case then I apologize. I will continue to support and purchase my parts / rc stuff there, as well as send him business from other curious on lookers at my local park, but I can not justifying spending that amount since I'm just a basher looking for a good time in a college town.
Again, I highly respect the owner and have had nothing but pleasant experiences shared with him. I wish him the best and hope this might have been insightful. Perhaps if I may suggest tiered pricing based on time?
Thank you...
Read moreThis place is AWESOME!!! their service is the BEST they were really welcoming and helpful, I've just recently gotten into hobby grade rc, and have been to every hobby shop within 2 hrs of where I live and everyone of them has treated me like a second class customer. Not Danny Nugent (the owner), he actually stopped working on their new crawler course (which is awesome) right before closing time to come give me a tour of his shop and inventory, and even gave me advice on what product would be best for me, their inventory is way bigger than the rest I've been to. and their prices are in almost every case just as cheap, and in some cases are cheaper. I'm a customer for LIFE!!!!!!! I would totally recommend shopping here instead of other...
